Don't take this as an offense, but just as an honest answer.

Yes, to me Goth is a turnoff. I don't like the style and I tend to ignore models whose portfolios are mostly Goth pictures.

ziocite,
goth is a mood; one which you do not display in your portfolio. You are a self described goth model, yet only one picture on your port approaches the feeling and tone. That's why I said I would not say you were gothic....
I wasn't saying that to get into some arguement with you; I was just saying that your problem is not that you are a goth model.

And yes I am just going by your portfolio because that is what a photographer has to go by. You can't fault your lack of work on being gothic because your portfolio does not display gothic work

LOL!

As for goth being a turn-off, I'm not sharing my alt/goth/retro/whatever images on MM anymore (I do post them on MySpace, though). Some people don't understand or appreciate variety, so my profile here is going mainstream.

Some goths are hot! Some are just dead. Really.

I once followed this goth chic who was shopping for groceries in a really short mini-goth-skirt. ( mini-goths, wee little goth folk, lol) Actully, she was full size but her skirt wasn't. She was a little exhibitionistic as well as evidenced by her straight-legged approach to picking up stuff from the bottom shelf. Or was it those boots preventing her? Honestly, it's not like I was gonna risk a bite on the neck by offending her had I played 20 questions. So I lurked. So what. You would too...

Wish I woulda been brave and asked her to shoot, but I didn't want to die early.

" is goth a turn off???"

Yes, it's not commercially viable.  The goths that I so shoot with turn me around with something else.  Exceptional personality, ease to shoot with, belief in oneself, whatever.  If i work with a goth it's one helluva goth.  If you're goth and say "Now what?" when you get in front of my lens, forgeddaboutit.  And I will make that descision before I take a picture.
