I have recently shot with two African-American models who had "corn row" or pulled-back hairstyles that left visible stripes and blotches in the upper forhead from the hair clusters.

I have dealt with the problem mostly via Gaussian blur skin-smoothing, with some healing brush, clone stamping, and dodging as needed. My current avator image is an example from one of the shoots.

Both models had concerns about how the upper forehead ended up looking.

Does anyone have suggestions on dealing with this, either through makeup or post-processing?

Should these hairstyles be avoided for certain types of shoots?
