Nudity is not a bad thing. can i just say that?
we were born nude and there is no shame in it

of course tacky photos can be taken, they're all on the web

nudity should not equate to tacky, showing bits off...ergh

rather it should be natural.

when a model actually WANTS to use her body as a piece of art, that's okay.

Ummm...yep.

It's also okay if he/she wants to be shot bent over the back seat of a car behind a seven eleven...

That's the beauty of freedom of expression.

Thing is those "bits" ARE natural
Well, barring the silicon enhanced ones anyway.
Plus, one mans tacky is another mans vision.

Because that tacky crap sells.

I agree 100% that a model should shoot nudes and not be concerned.  Unfortunatly, too many little boys get off on seeing a naked woman in tacky situations.  All I can say is that maybe MAYBE they will grow up.

whether a model is shooting nude as a form of art, or shooting the "tacky" photos--either is perfectly fine, as long as she is comfortable with what she is doing.

b/t/w, those "tacky photos" all over the web are part of a multi-billion dollar industry...

Here's the thing Jacinta... DigitalSwede is sorta right.

Art isn't done for the money...and I can understand being an artist model if you want to do it for the art of it, but then, at times you'll sacrifice money for the art.

If you're just doing it for the money of it, then, well, you're not an artist...you're just another model.

I have been working in the UK attempting to deliver ART in photography for two years. I work soley in the field of Fine Art Nudes - and juxtapose the female form in or place it in sympathy with natural and man made environmnts.

I do not attempt to creat any sexual tension - an will not work with models who are ovretly sexual, - WE are tying to deliver images that challenge, please and tempt the eye with shape, depth, texture and colour. There can not be anything wrong with this. The female form has been the basis of human art for millenia, - negativity only enters the arena whewn the intent of the three individuals concerned (The Model, The Photographer -or the Viewer is suspect).

Visit my web site - www.fineart.me.uk to see examples of my imagry.

You occasionally see a post by some uptight wad who equates nudity and models who pose nude as immoral or trashy.

Good question!

Probably like all those anti-porn crusaders who spend hours and hours pouring over porn, "to study it."

wish this term could be banned... overused meaningless
also wish we could ban the word nude and just say naked... thats raw and keeps you all from thinking 'art'.

Here.. Here..  The word art just heaps a pile of pretension on a much simpler concept: trying things..

Or is it hear hear?

I don't agree; it is a perfectly useful term and describes the intention of the work. Granted, it is overused, but it is still a very viable term. And "nudity" means something different than "naked." While I've shot many nudes, I don't think I've shot many "naked" people (if that makes any sense). There is a subtle difference and I think that difference is a good thing.

And what is wrong with an art nude? Nothing. Obviously.

I'd rather keep nude and naked as they are.

Not everyone can handle naked, especially if clothed.

This is very true. You don't have to be nude to be naked.

Had some problems Jacinta? sad A lot of (ignorant) people aren't accepting of nude work at all, most can't define the difference between artistic and erotic. Your art nudes are beautiful, cleverly posed and just stunning to view. I don't see erotica in them but everyone looks at photos with a different perspective (and if their head is in the gutter already....) Keep working in what you love and be proud of it - if i were you, I would be!
