I'm looking for a web host that's not necessarily porn-oriented but that allows adult content for an erotic ezine I'm creating.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Hey there! How's it going? I need to respond to your tag, but I thought I'd post here real quick. Actually, I'm looking for the exact same thing. Not necessarily a porn site, but a site that can host an adult-oriented site that can handle subscriptions and security. I know nothing of these things...

  Thanks!

YOu might want to check out the forums on www.oprano.com

It's a site devoted to adult industry webmasters and producers but they have links to some of the best and most reputable content-neutral hosting sites.

I always found this site helpful:  http://www.findmyhosting.com/

Put in criteria & it'll suggest potential hosts.  Several have policies about this sort of thing.  It is definitely best to make sure your host is okay with your content before you commit.

Dream host is not only one of the least expensive/most available and most responsive to customer requests I've ever been able to find, but their TOS also contains no terms prohibiting nudity or pornography...only what would be illegal...such as child pornography.

So long as it is legal to take pictures of and show, it's legal to host with them.

The above is a referrer link, and they have a great referral program which does give me a benefit, so I'd appreciate anyone who is signing up with them use it.  Thanks so much.

their TOS is a little vague on this matter:

GoDaddy.com TOS wrote:
Go Daddy reserves the right to terminate Services if Your usage of the Services results in, or is the subject of, legal action or threatened legal action, against Go Daddy or any of its affiliates or partners, without consideration for whether such legal action or threatened legal action is eventually determined to be with or without merit
...
Except as set forth below, Go Daddy may also cancel Your use of the Services, after thirty (30) days, if You are using the Services, as determined by Go Daddy in its sole discretion, in association with spam or morally objectionable activities. Morally objectionable activities will include, but not be limited to: activities designed to defame, embarrass, harm, abuse, threaten, slander or harass third parties; activities prohibited by the laws of the United States and/or foreign territories in which You conduct business; activities designed to encourage unlawful behavior by others, such as hate crimes, terrorism and child pornography; activities that are tortuous, vulgar, obscene, invasive of the privacy of a third party, racially, ethnically, or otherwise objectionable; activities designed to impersonate the identity of a third party; illegal access to other computers or networks (i.e., hacking); distribution of Internet viruses or similar destructive activities; and activities designed to harm or use unethically minors in any way.

Basically it says *to me* that they reserve the right to cancel your service if anyone anywhere has any sort of problem with what you're posting...including an ethical/moral problem.

Also from their hosting specific service agreement:

GoDaddy.com TOS wrote:
Notwithstanding anything in this Agreement to the contrary, in the event You are using ad-supported hosting, in no event shall Your web site consist of the following: search results, registration, "thank you", error, email or chat pages, pages comprised primarily of other advertising or pages that contain any of the following types of content: pornographic, obscene or excessively profane content or content intended to advocate or advance computer hacking or cracking, gambling, illegal activity, drug paraphernalia, hate, violence or racial or ethnic intolerance.

So if you're planning on using their cheapest services that are ad supported, you can't have anything pornographic, obscene or excessively profane...which, can be almost anything as well.

www.westcoasthost.com  tell them Nicoletti referred you. I knwo these guys personally and host my personal site there. It offers the best support and utilities.

Its also not windows based so it runs so much smoother with less glitches but you would not see the difference in the interface. The CPanel management interface is great and it supports FrontPage extensions as well.

I wish MM would use them! (lol) They have redundent back ups so no chance of losing your data and if the server goes down it switches to another server with a few minutes so you don't really have down time. The host a lot of shopping cart sites so they have to be up and running smooth all the time.

I know of another student who was in my class has a site called www.zombieporn.net. Her site isn't up yet, but if you go there you'll see the name of the company that is hosting her website. And yes, she has adult content on it. Viewed her work in class with the rest of us students.
