I see in models portfolios that they prefer not to do "nudes or erotic" images, but "artistic" images are OK??  What are artistic images?  Thanks kevin

Kevin, those are the shots where the model has his hands over his nipples for the sake of modesty. If he removes his hands people blush, and the blushing is what makes it an erotic picture. Without the blushing it is simply and artistic picture, and quite frankly I can't get enough of that style of artistic picture. Thank God and Allah there are so many of them to choose from.

By that definition,  I would only have three images that would count as "artistic" and the rest would all be "erotic".  Please no one tell the models I've worked with.  I'm not sure they'd agree.  Kevin

Artistic and erotic are not mutually exclusive

it means that they want to get naked but not in such a way that someone would say they look like a porn star.

When I think "artistic" I think "Shows some skin, maybe, but not likely something I will catch my brother's friends masturbating to."

Actually, I think it as capturing a certain mood or feel (as art tends to do), which can be easily accomplished fully clothed. Many nude/fetish/bondage/"artistic" pictures I've seen for what ever reason don't call out to me; I can't call them "art" to myself.

First off, there is lots of "artistic" photography involving models which is not nude. I don't shoot it, but many others do. That may be what they are talking about. Second, many models make a personal distinction between figurative art and glamour or porn style images, ie intended for an art gallery versus an adult web site ot men's magazine. While both can be equally explicit or conservative, there is a diference in both intent and concept,

An artistic image is any image that someone somewhere will think is artistic.  So, every image is artistic in the same sense that everyone is beautiful.

Unlike beauty, however, the more people who think it's artistic, the more artistic it is.

Beauty is different in that everyone is more beautiful than everyone else (otherwise no nookie for you).

I always felt, and contemplated much on this subject & I could be very wrong. That an image that creates what might be termed an emotion, whether it be admiration , a gasp--  because it did create a decided reaction from the viewer, whether that be of admiration, exasperation, excitement, shock or even disgust......it created an emotion versus say looking at a hum drum passport picture that creates no  noticeable reaction from anyone except possibly a customs official....... Conversely when one views an object (supposedly ART) that is so dull and uninteresting  because  essentially it is an "ART FAILURE" because it has failed to evoke or bring about any sentiment when viewed.

Would that include porn?  I know lots of people who are disgusted by porn.  They're all assholes, too (but that's beside the point).
