Yeah yeah I'm adding another rant but; do ppl actually take time to read profiles?
I recently had a model message me making request that i clearly stated on my page i do fill (gas compensation, mates as escorts and tfp for fashion/casual)
Its like ppl seriously dont bother to read and i have nooo idea why.
Or do models think you will change your mind for them?
Anyone have rules on their profile models just ignore?

Models refuse to believe I don't do fashion tfp, though it's right there on my page in boldface.

Hi
It is too bad. Any photographer or model should always check the profile before adding a person as a friend or reading the email. That is what i do. I am a model and i did get some of that too. There is nothing you can do to stop it.

Well, the truth is that people try to open even those doors that seem closed. Model, photographer, whatever, I am sure you in the past have also attempted to get something that was stated to be unavailable. Who knows--perhaps one of these TFP models will be truly exceptional. I am sure there are people for whom everyone, including those of you above, would make exceptions. I have worked with several well known photographers and models who have done this.

Actually, that's not the case with me.  In the genre I work in, I try to read a model's profile very carefully...At the first sign of issues with nudity/fetish/erotica, I move on...and I don't play the "exceptional photographer" game either.  There are too many interesting people for me to work with to waste time asking a model to do something they don't want to.

How about getting a great job that everyone told you was taken or impossible to receive. Did you try for it even though it seemed impossible? The point is, it's ok to try. Fine, you may annoy the other person, but at least you are taking chances. Most people who succeed frequently dont stick to restrictions of descriptions and exceptions are everywhere. I have often succeeded in working for free with people who clearly require money.

Yep..guilty as charged! I LOVE working with models who state they don't do nudes then shoot with me. A LOT of times that particular statement is to keep the porn and GWCs away. Sometimes they actually mean it. i look more at the iamges they have then politely send them my contact info and references.

Maybe "people who don't read profiles" because I definitely have photographers message me to shoot things which I clearly state in my profile I am not interested in. they are either giving it a shot anyway or not even reading your profile.  Either way, I don't know what you can really do about it except say "no thanks."

I've taken up a good habit in making good use of the reading material that is posted on the profile page before I contact someone by, you know, actually reading it, unlike a handful of people.

When a model or photographer has even a quarter of the text you have in the text area, it is rightly ignored IMO.

When people look for talent or shopping for a photographer, do you think it is reasonable to read what essentially is often to come when negotiating ? Or often just another rant ? Personally I never read the text area simply because people hardly ever follow their own rules/guidelines etc.

actually, i've had completely oblivious models, when they meet with me a lot of them are surprised i'm younger, if not younger or really close to their age. it's funny because i say how old i am on my profile so they aren't so shocked when they meet me.  i've even had 1 tell me that when she met me she thought she wasn't going to get 1 decent shot from our shoot because i was so young.  surprise surprise to her! every shot from that shoot was beautiful and flawless unlike her previous work which she immediately took down and put up mine. funny how those things work out.

I think it's the same with a lot of online portfolios and profile websites.
A lot of people base things on a visual, they sneak a peak at the photos and neglect the rest - it's quite disrespectful actually when you think about it, and a complete waste of time.
I tend to just overlook messages that have shown a blatant disregard to everything i've stated in my profile, don't see any point in getting worked up about it.

But it is bloody annoying!

Much Love,
Feline x

I've had models respond to a casting call that I put out looking for photographers. Gee, read much???

Trouble is that I've had gracious plenty photographers that have blantantly ignored the information that I have written in my profile. Its not there for my health... Its there to cut down on negotiation times, its simple, and pretty darn easy to follow (compared to some!!). The street definately runs both ways!!!

Seriously, people just email me like "Hey, I want to shoot you, but I'm wondering if you'll put a hop in my step".

C'mon, do they not read my profile?

Ok, I couldn't help myself.  I'm sure some people don't mind, but I do, and I'm a model.  It's when models respond to a casting call asking "Where are you located?"  Why don't they click on the poster's avatar and look?  It shows such unprofessionalism when a model does no research.  I always look at their page/pix before responding.  Oh well, I guess I should be glad. It makes my chances better.

I know, I hate that.

I wonder how they would feel if photographers kept asking them to pose naked even though they say in their profiles that they won't.

How about "photographers who don't read profiles"? I've had tons of people contact me asking me to do things that I clearly say I won't do in my profile. If they can't look at my profile other than to look at my pictures, it's my first signal not to work with them.

It's not just models.

If you do a forum search for things like "can't read" / "don't read" / "illiterate", you'll spy many complaints from models about photographers who don't read profiles before making inappropriate requests.
