she was one of my favorite photographers. I just heard she died Saturday at the age of 60. When she was 21 she was in Vietnam.

A year after getting to Vietnam, she was the only journalist to combat jump. She was also captured by the NVA during the Tet Offensive but talked her way out. She also was able to photograph the NVA in action and got the cover of Life.

She also worked in Northern Ireland, Cypruss, Somalia, Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, and Libya.

I wrote more and posted some pix in my blog

Oh NO that's horrible.  She was truly one of the VN pj survivors.   Larry Burrows, Gilles Caron and Robert Ellison (amongst others) were all killed, she was hit by a mortar and suffered very serious injuries.

http://www.pieceuniquegallery.com/ is where one can go to see a number of pj work from the war, her work is there amongst others.

60 years young, that just sucks.

Damn i'm sorry to hear that. I know her work. I remember her combat images from when I was young.

It is sad when we lose another great photographer. I wasn't familiar with her until now; her work is amazing. As with other artists her work will live on, and in the case of her wartime photography will serve to remind us of the realities of warfare.
