I've been on the site for almost a year...
Would a name change at this point be bad for business?
Or just ridiculous?

what's the motivation for the change?
that would clearly weigh in the assessment

If you start calling yourself the Coochiesnorcher I will support your decision, but I'm never going to be able to stop laughing long enough to reply to another post..

You've been on for a year, everyone should know your pictures regardless of a name change. I don't see a problem with it.

But for serious, I worry about someone doing a search using browse and bam, they think i'm gone. ( haha I know like people are actually searching for me.)

i have thought about this too. i didnt want to use my real name so i just did a spelling variation, thinking it would be like myspace or something and i could just change it. well now i wish i had something more thoughtful, but im a newbie. should i just leave it? i originally thought about baelie doll, but just figured i would change it later. d'oh!

Is this just for MM?  how much marketing have you done with that name?  for a little while, put your new name and you old one together, so that people understand that you are changing the name,  and then after a while pull off your old name,  but leave your old name in key words or on your site index page,  in the text somewhere so search engines will hit you when people that did not know you changed your name search for you. If you have a web site you can track stats with cookies, and see how people found you, you can see what they googled for to find your link,  you can judge then if people are finding you by your old name,  and when and if to yank it.

Is there any way to change your name but use the same profile, keeping all the 'my stuff' intact?

Yes.

Check to see if the name you want is taken by using the Browse feature.  Then use the Contact-A-Mod form to ask for the change.

No problemo, it was a year and a half ago already.

I will try and find a picture to scan...my grandma was my clone.

People would ask where I got my "old timey" photos done....and I'm like eeh,...thats not me.
