Is it possible to have a model/talent agency represent you even when you dont live the state the agency is located???

If so, explain the circumstances.

AND

Is that costly to the model, client or agency???

Doesn't sound like a smart idea to me. Pretty faces and aspiring models are everywhere, so modeling is generally always local. Do they have a local office and local clients?

Also, if they are out of state, make sure they are licensed to represent models in Texas. Check with the TDLR (http://www.license.state.tx.us/).

If the agency is actually doing business from a location in Texas, or if the agency is attempting to get you a llamaing job in TX, the law requires that the agency must be licensed.

The situation would be similar in most states where Talent agencies are required to be licensed.

If the agency AND the location of the job are in states where agencies are not required to be licensed, it's legal!

In other words, it would be legal for an agency in Wyoming to get a job for you in North Dakota, however if the same Wyoming talent agency got a gig for you in TX, the agency would be illegally operating.

Disclaimer:  The above situations are hypothetical.  There may or may not be other laws regarding working as stated in the example.  To my knowledge, neither WY nor ND have laws regarding the licensing of talent agencies, however the laws may have changed so further inquiries in those instances would be warranted.
