Oh man that sucks!  Hope they catch the little bastard and let you beat him with a baseball bat.  Car breakins/thefts rub me the wrong way.  I swear I'll club any little punk breaking into a car if I see them.

Hope it works out man.

Do you have serial numbers ?  If so,  log them in with most repair centers.
You might get lucky...

Sorry to hear that....it sucks when thing like that happen.....

Was doing an outdoor shoot myself this past Sunday and two clowns actually walked up and started looking through my gear.....and I'm no more than ten feet away!!!!....either they were really bold....or totally stupid!....but they left quickly after I got in their face....I'm 6'2"...300 lbs.....and politely asked them..."to put the f**king equipment down and get the f**k out of here before I ripped their f**king heads off and shoved them up their f**king ass"....

I still had the "good stuff" on me. I normally pack it all away as soon as the shoot ends. Fortunately I didn't do that this time and I'm still in the game. Fate smiles. smile

Thanks to all of you who want to "kick some ass" on my behalf. The people in this part of the city are very poor and depressed. I'm hoping that someone's kid gets a meal.

Actually Craig, I believe there are parts of Ybor that have the cameras in the light polls, you might wanna check and see if you were around any of those areas...

We will check around St Pete area pawn shops too.....

I hope you had good insurance covering everything.

I've got my gear covered under a State Farm "Personal Articles Policy."

100% exact replacement
No deductible, no depreciation
covers Pro usage
covers any form of loss

Tomorrow I'll be taking them a handful of invoices to add several new pieces of gear purchased in the last few weeks.

It's great peace of mind.  Sorry for your loss.

I've been with State Farm for years and thought I was covered. Agent says "not". I will see about having this added to my policy. Thanks~!

You left that laying around at a Goth convention?

Goth like it real real dark, easy to snatch away a bag from a camera man.

Sorry to hear that.

Yeah, the Personal Articles is a completely separate policy from their Homeowners or auto policies.  It can also be used for computer equipment.   There are two coverages--amateur and pro.  If you have the amateur policy and drop your camera off the balcony at a wedding shoot for which you are being paid, it will not pay.  The pro coverage is more expensive, but worth it.

Thanks Ed and Dessie for your offers to help. I greatly appreciate your friendship. The cops didn't mention cameras in this area but I'll check in to it.

I know a lot of goth people and non of them would steal, I know it in my heart. I wasn't shooting a convention. I'm sorry for the miscommunication.

I had just finished doing a goth/industrial shoot on an alley in Ybor City, Tampa and put my gear in the back of my van. Leaving the van door open because I hadn't packed my camera yet, I turned to my model to say goodbye and then to a homeless man asking for spare change and that's when the thief made off with my gear.

According to police the homeless man was a loner and they believed he had nothing to do with the crime.

That SUCKS. I, too will watch. Will also make a call to a friend who owns several pawn shops in area. I use State Farm personal policy to cover my gear, along with artwork, jewelry and my tools when I had my racecar. All were worth more than my homeowners covered.

*****ALSO**** FYI - most home insurance will NOT cover laptop stolen outside house. Covered these under state farm policy, too - think it's like $200/year for $40k worth of stuff covered.******************

Bait and switch...hmm...nothing to do with it????

No good deed goes unpunished...

Maybe it wouldn't have happened if you were more of an asshole.
(my feeble attempt of making light of this situation)

Just remember...equilivent extange(basically karma) or you can think that you just got shit on...the mind is a funny thing-and you control your take on this.

I hope you had insurance.?.

I'd be interested to know the circumstances surrounding the theft - where was the equipment, were you present (snatch and run), etc..  For all of us that shoot in Ybor, this could be valuable information.

I'll keep an eye out as well.
