Models - Comfortable with this Photographer ?
So a photographer said on their profile that they had been in jail. When the photographer contacted a model for a possible photo shoot here is the conversation. Now tell me models, what would your reaction be to this ? Would you feel comfortable shooting with this person ? Model - "So why were you in jail" ?? Photographer - "Parole violation" Model - "What were you on parole for" ? Photographer - "Fucked up stuff" Model - "Care to explain" ? Photographer - "Not really" Jun 26 06 12:02 pm Link He was a shooter alright. He just didnt use a camera, LOL. Jun 26 06 12:03 pm Link Stay away...Saftey first! Jun 26 06 12:04 pm Link Model - "Why don't you want to explain" ? Photographer - "Because it was for child porn". Jun 26 06 12:07 pm Link I suppose if you're not a child you may not have anything to worry about. I know one guy in town who seems to be a kick ass photographer and has that rap on his record. Hard to tell though -- another thread points out how conservatively twisted our nation has become. You might get a rap like that because you shot a 17 year old in lingerie. Not that I would go there, but it coulda been something borderline like that. The Bible Belt is an unfortunate part of the world to be in. Oh and you will need to PhotoShop the tracking device on the ankle. Jun 26 06 12:18 pm Link DarioImpiniPhotography wrote: it wasnt for child porn. the photographer wouldnt explain. He's either exceedingly stupid or trying to score street cred (spending a night in the slammer for driving without insurance or license). Jun 26 06 12:26 pm Link photoshop the device out.. that is funny shit... I had a friend get a rap like that when he was 19 and had relations with his 17 yr old g/f who told the cops after they had broken up.. messed up stuff. That is why i only date ladies 50 yrs old plus.. play it safe ha ha ha Jun 26 06 12:27 pm Link Or, he was convicted of a sex crime and a condition of his probation is to alert anyone he may have unsupervised contact with that he was arrested and incarcerated. He may not have to say *why* he was incarcerated but he may have to at least broadcast the information. I've seen it before, just not from a photographer. To answer the question, I think I would be leery of working with someone like that but as I'm not a model, I can't say I would definitely *not* work with him. I do think my guard would be up all the time, and that's not the best way to go into a photo shoot. Jun 26 06 12:32 pm Link Peeing in public is a sex crime in California, and requires you to register for life as a sex offender and get listed under "Megan's Law" with all the sex offenders and child molesters. Where is the line drawn? He had to be convicted of something and serve some time to be on "parole". Parole is not the same as probation, one can be sentenced to probation instead of jail, but to be on parole, he had to have served some time, usually for a felony. Jun 26 06 08:11 pm Link It the photographer's work was awesome enough, I would check his references before making any further judgements. If someone I personally knew and trusted had worked with him before and put in a good word for him, that would be enough for me. After all, it is possible for someone to pay his/her debt to society and move on. The rehabilitation of former prisoners into mainstream society is difficult enough without me adding additional barriers to it . Tricky and icky, all at the same time. Fortunately I live in Maine, not California... Jun 26 06 09:12 pm Link I carry personal protection with me on shoots. Recently upgraded to a flame thrower (fits in the back of my Honda) lol* Jun 26 06 09:13 pm Link DarioImpiniPhotography wrote: What the heck has the "so called" Bible belt got to do with this?
