Senator Jarrett Barrios is trying to pass legislation restricting the MAXIMUM NUMBER of marshmallow fluff sandwiches that can be offered to 3rd graders in Massachusetts!!!

It's UNAMERICAN that Congress is trying to get involved and restrict access to this important food technology!! It's INVASIVE!

More 2 the point; if Senator Barrios has got so much FREE TIME ON HIS HANDS maybe he ought to go over to Iraq and fill sandbags for the troops. Or make them some sandwiches.

I am scandalized that our elected leaders are so selfish and small minded that they even notice this kind of stuff. SheeeeeSH!

In Chicago, they just made it illegal to serve pate' as it is 'cruel' to the geese to be force fed from birth....WTF?

This was passed mere months after the smoking law. To me, it is funny that smokers rights, which many people have no problem with removing, obviously leads to other rights being taken away. In Chicago...first smoking, then pate'.

Funny? Maybe, but the increasing number of laws prohibiting peoples behaviour and choices in the united states scares the SHIT out of me.

If we dont laugh we will cry Canada is getting just as bad and the smoking laws kill me because the Government is the one who has the choke hold on tabacco distribution. These political leaders must be on drugs there are Way more important issues than Fluff, and while I am at it they should make marijuana legal! I mean if booze is legal why not canibus?

The decisions these politicians make kill me.

Sheesh, that really is ridiculous. Did you notice that Senator Idiot only cared about this important issue when it was HIS kid?? Obviously, he didn't care about the deprived inner city kids getting toxic marshmallow creme sandwiches. Selfish bastard.

I hope the voters in Massachusetts learn what an on-the-ball elected representative they have, and vote accordingly.

I'm going to the suburbs to stuff myself with overfatted goose liver. Maybe I can find one where I can smoke and have coffee at my table afterwards too.

I heard they were going to add an amendment to the statute to deem marshmallows as both lacivious and explicit causing them to fall under the auspices of 18 U.S.C. 2256.  Adding those definitions would be a further deterrent since any parent caught taking a picture of their child with a marshmallow could be prosecuted for child pornography.

I did hear they wanted an exception for GWC's, since it would be inappropriate to find a marshmallow as lacivious conduct for them since photos in tank tops and running shorts are already pornographic with minors.

Their war cry is "Skinny, healthy and clean!"

Sheeeeeesh!!! As if eating steak isn't cruel? Unless I am seriously misunderstanding something, the cow doesn't survive the experience. Or lobster: into the boiling hot water! And what about potatoes? They broil those little suckers alive, then slice them open and stuff them with butter!!! Horrifying!

I live on a farm and I can tell you that agriculture is NOT always pretty. Ever see what a combine does to a baby deer? Or a hay-cutter does to a rabbit? When you eat wheat, you're responsible for the deaths of dozens of field mice. Not to mention the innocent insects and arachnids!

I think it's pathetic that people are passing laws against stuff like foie gras pate' when you've got people who abuse dogs, cats, horses, etc. for years and never even get a slap on the wrist.

Maybe instead of foie gras pate' they should have legislated that all restaurants MUST serve marshmallow fluff as a substitute!!

And remember, we fellow Americans also want National Health Care...which will be RUN by these people.  I really don't understand this.  People talk about how they don't trust the gov't all the time, yet they want them in control of our health care?

Sure sure, your health care will be "free" but there will be other costs.  Just wait till you find some Congressman like Barrios deciding that you ate too many marshmellow sandwiches so that heart surgury you need is gonna put you at the bottom of the wait list.  Only slightly higher than smokers.

Marshmallows are a uniquely American sweet; it's a glob of sugar that has been puffed up with air until it's a kind of gooey white spongy vaguely vanilla-flavored thing. Marshmallow fluff is a runnier version of marshmallow. So it's basically goopy foamed sugar.... MMmmmmmMMM!!! smile A marshmallow fluff sandwich is marshmallow creme and peanut butter, on white bread.

I told my wife about this thread and she's going to get some marshmallow creme tonight at the grocery store and we're going to eat some in solidarity with those poor 3rd graders in massachussetts.

The entire world is not safe from elected a$$es.  Unfortunately, those a$$es are able to fool enough people to get elected.  That's why education is listed as a priority, and gets funded last (the people have to be smart enough to vote, but too dumb to know who or what they are voting for).

I love FlufferNutter sandwichs!!!.....

Mass. is a funny place....lived there for a few years......really enjoyed it....except for the winter of 78'.....but the people running the state really lack a few brain cells......to think that this takes up their time and they can say it with a straight face......now multiple this by all the state representatives....state senators....Congressional Representative and Senators....

No wonder this country is having some serious problems....it's being run by total freakin idiots.....

I actually just read an article stating that Congress is passing a bill so that only skim non-chocolate milk (whole milk will no longer be allowed) and sugar-free juices will be offered to grade-schools and in high schools the only caffinated beverages that will be allowed to be offered will be diet sodas in order to address the issues of child obesity.

So...rather than increasing required physical activity (which has been significantly reduced in the past few years), they limit the availablity of choices not only to grade schools but also to high schools.

What I find incredibly interesting is the promotion of diet drinks, which have been proven to increase memory loss.

OMG!  Be thankful he only want's to limit the intake of these things.  Jesus Christ, I'd never heard of these before today, but after reading the article my teeth hurt; I think I have a new cavity.

I have an idea, how about a bowl of syrup and a soda.  Do the kids get a cookie, ding-dong, or twinkie for dessert with these sandwiches?

I agree, politicians have way too much time on their hands, I'm just making fun of this sandwich.

I was on my way to work this AM and passed a livestock truck carrying cattle to the slaughter house. A curious cow was sticking his/her nose through the vent hole and I noticed how wet it was. Actually very slimy wet. It got me to wondering if they dry them off before they give them to us in hot dogs and such.

Actually, this guy is not as nuts as y'all think he is. If you read the article he simply wants to limit the frequency with which the product can be served to children in school.

Fluff tastes great and I remember eating fluffinutter sandwiches myself as a kid. That said, the stuff is totally useless as a food product and, along with the rest of the junk that children today consume in large quantities, serves as the beginnings of the road to diabetes, heart desease and any number of other ailments. BTW, the number of Type II diabetes (aka: adult onset diabetes) cases in the U.S. has doubled in the last 30 tears. It is rapidly becoming the our most challenging health issue and it is being seen in children more and more often ... remember .... it is known as adult onset .... seeing it in kids on the scale that is occuring is something new and is believed to be the direct result of diets high in sugar, starches, etc.

IMHO, those that think a guy like this is the last person that we want trying to implement a national health care policy, are dead wrong. He is exactly who we should want because he is astute enough to realize that all the medicine in the world won't help if we don't start dealing with the root causes of preventable deseases.

If I were a Massachusettes resident, I would vote for him anytime.

Yes...fluff does taste great....and for the most part I agree with your statement....but do we really need laws against serving it too many times....hell....what are parents for??....we're just becoming a nation of wienies....looking to be told what to do...how to do it....and where....whatever happened to taking care of yourself???...

If a car jumps the curb and runs you down....I have sympathy for your plight....if you decide to walk out in front of one...and you get hit....you're an idiot and I'm glad your genes are removed from the pool........get the picture???

For the most part, I agree with you in regard to parental involvement. When I look at how many young people raise their kids today, it makes me sad because so many of them have no clue how to parent. Even worse, many have no desire to accept the responsibilities of parenthood.

The problem with the school food issue is most parents - even the good ones - have no idea what their kids are eating at school on any given day. It is also a problem because the parents can't be there to exercise on the spot judgement as to what, amd how much, their kids are permitted to consume. They should be able to rely on the schools to serve nutritious foods rather than sugar and salt laden junk that sets up poor, lifelong eating habits.

When I was a kid....and that's a looooong time ago....my mother would make us breakfast every morning....no cold cereal ever!.....actually that was our "treat" if we behaved......the she went to work, afterwards she went to school.....and then came home and made dinner......she also sent us to school with a lunch box of her homemade food.....

Today....the kids are raised practically on all junk food.....pop tarts....breakfast cerals that are for all intents and purposes sugar wrapped in starch....fake juices...again sugar in colored water.....even soda for breakfast....so is it any suprise they crave more sugar....as in fluffernutters......

Can't help but wonder why parents who are so "now"....let their kids be subjected to the worst habits right from the get go.....and then complain about schools serving unhealthy food??
