Does anyone know where I could rent a decent wig in the Orange County (CA) area?

I don't want to buy one for 100 bucks, since I'll never use it again, and costume shops seem to be really expensive.  Do theaters rent out costumes?

It needs to be dark brown and shorter than chin length.  It's to play Trinity from the Matrix.

The job is more for the tear sheet than anything else.  The pay is very low, so I don't want to spend more on a wig and gas than I get in return.

Ok, I know my subject line isn't that exciting, but does anybody have a response?

depends what exactly you're looking for; some cities have like these 'Dollar Stores' where you can find inexpensive, albeit maybe lower quality, wigs ...

I've never seen one there before, but I'll look.  I guess since my hair is brown already, it won't be so bad if the hair doesn't cover everything.

Renting out wigs is a risy business, I don't know if anyone will do it. I know I would never wear a rented wig - who knows where it could have been!
If you are not concerned about quality, your local party store should have some very affordable wigs. I'm not sure they would look good enough for a tearsheet though. I suggest places like eBay or online stores like www.cosworx.com for affordable higher quality wigs.

Like others have said, renting a wig is a scary deal.  I know of a lot of people who sell wigs that won't accept a return if it looks like someone has worn it.

I wouldn't suggest buying a "dime store" party wig, like they sell at most costume shops because if you do *anything* with the wig while your wearing it, it'll not, and you'll be screwed.  (They also look HORRIBLE!)

You can try cosworx, but there's also http://www.acewigs.com
