I was doing a little reasearch about image storage and decided that my best bet for right now is to just pay for web hosting. My problem: My laptop hard drive is overwhelmed with all the modeling pictures I am taking. I am currently using Picasa to manage my photos, and I love the software but I just don't have the money to spend on extra hardware for storage space. I looked at Flickr, SmugMug, PBase, etc... but someone made the point, why pay for just image hosting when I can't sell the images (obtained by TFP and photographers hold the copyright) when I could get image storage and a personal website. I can do the coding myself - I have a degree in computer science and past experience coding HTML, RSS, and Javascript. Besides what I need is simple at first. What I want to know is how do I find reputable hosting who allows nudity? I am not even talking about full frontal nudity now, just implied - for examples of what I mean look at my portfolio. I would have already purchased hosting at GoDaddy but I am afraid that I'd ge yanked when they saw what I was uploading. I've done searches in the forums and I have seen threads mentioning companies who gladly host porn/nudity but I wanted a name that I would be comfortable with.
Anybody hosting at GoDaddy who has nudity up?

I work for eNom. You can put anything legal on our hosting. If you'd like a link to get better prices than our retail (we're a reseller-model, so our retail prices are high so as to not compete with resellers), I can point you.

Since there's no topic-notification, drop me a message.

I host my stuff at lunarpages.com -- they allow nudity and their basic service package even comes with stuff like coppermine image gallery. I'm a really happy customer of theirs.

Godaddy with implies, yes.  no issues.

What are their terms of service???  If they say no nudity, you can probably get away with tasteful, but then again at any time you may get yanked.  Read their terms of service!!!

An alternative solution is to get an external drive or 2, and back up your images there.  Also, consider a DVD burner and make 2 copies.  Keep them in a cool dry place for max longevity.

Godaddy.com is where I got my domain name, but Kazix.com is the host of my site.  $20 a month and they don't care what you put on there so long as it's legal.  So if you were looking to host an adult site, you could do it there.

My site (txphotog.com) is on GoDaddy, and it includes nudes.  They haven't said anything about it, and I can find nothing in their terms of service to prohibit it.

I'm with GoDaddy at ConstanceHilory.com and I've had implied images up on the site for months. (Though I just recently took them down.) Nonetheless, I never had an issue with any of my images.

I have sites on GoDaddy that contain mild nudity, but try photogserver.net Jim is a good guy and you get a lot of freedom for prices starting at $2.95 a month.

I've used a company called BlueHost for a long time now, never had a problem with them and they're really cost effective.

External hard-drives in the 80 Gig range can be had for around US$100. You can also archive your pics to CD and sture them in those binders they sell for music CDs...

Most hosts will allow you to host legal adult content. Some will balk at "hardcore" stuff, though the majority of the TOS I have read and inquired about seem more concerned with kiddie porn than anything legal. The "Whats your policy towards nudes and adult content?" is one of the things I asked our current datacenters before setting up with them. (We use 2 datacenters for our servers and host a number of artists, etc)

I'd recommend against Godaddy though, we had some, ah, less than satisfying responses from their tech support over the past year.  There are a number of hosts do offer good service and allow legal adult content.  If you might be interested in our offerings, drop me a line and I can quote something out for you.  Also, a good place to check on hosts and their reputations is webhostingtalk.com. I spent alot of time there when researching our datacenters, and they cover the full range from a single site to full server hosting, etc.

I use GoDaddy to purchase, and register domain names, also for Security Certificates.  Then I use http://www.aplus.net/ for hosting ... I have a dedicated server which allows me 30 websites right now.  Then I have my merchant account with goemerchant.  I don't like to put my eggs all in one basket!  I do sometimes shoot nudity, and have not had a single complaint about my content ... so far.

***fingers crossed***

I just checked the terms of service at GoDaddy and I think I that nudity shouldn't be a problem.

I use GoDaddy.. no problems with nudity, no problems with adult content, as long as it isnt kiddie porn or anything else illegal.

I have a number of sites hosted with them and have used them for other services as well.

I will agree that their tech support sometimes needs to be better trained.. but they also have a large client base and a big turnover in employees.

I have even talked to them about adult pay sites for a couple of clients.. and still no issues.

Hope this helps.

I suddenly remembered why I didn't build my site at GoDaddy.com--they have a stupid wizard that is next to impossible to figure out.  I need flexibility and would rather write the html myself.

I dont use wizards... I write the HTML, and then manage it in dreamweaver... or what ever... then upload it and check it in different browsers..

You can upload your own html with godaddy. I use them. Can't beat the price.

SiteTurns is the best and very reasonable for a TRUE no limit to bandwith server. Under $200 per year and yes I have art nudes and a Vampire Film site with some gore and not so art nudity hosted there. They allow faux servers so I have all three of my sites hoted on a singl account. I'm a few months into my second year with them...problem free!

I cannot recommend dreamhost enough. They always have sales and they are very good at letting you know of any problems honestly. Also for the price the amount of stuff you get is amazing. I was lucky and found them during some birthday sale so I paid $20 for a years worth of hosting and to register and activate my domain name. I have some crazy amount of space and bandwidth that I will never be able to use.

Anyhow, I highly recommend them and they do adult websites.

I checked, their price is $7.95 a month for 20 GB of storage and 1 TB of bandwidth right now. they have other packages too. That's just the one they're promoting.

That's way over-priced - external drives should be about $1/gig (internal half that).

I host www.quaevide.com (lots of nudity) at GoDaddy for about $5/month (domain registration, 25M email, 5 gig web space). I've only had to use their customer service once in a year or so, and wasn't happy with it (they fixed the problem, but argued forever that there was no problem). Write my own HTML and CSS and upload with incremental FTP.

As far as I can tell, GoDaddy couldn't care less what you have on their servers so long as it doesn't land them in court.
