Wilhelmina was a Swedish super-model who started one of th most influential agencies in the country in 1967.  She died of cancer at the age of 42 in 1980.  She had an incredible influence on the industry.

Her agency continues without her and remains one of the most respected ones in the business.  They have mistepped though.  They got involved at one point with Options Talent and created the Wilhelmina Scounting Network.  They had no idea what they were getting involved in when they licensed their name, but it was a scam.  It is long gone, but it has been a bruise on their reputation.

They also have licensees around the country.  They are permitted to use the Wilhelmina name.  Some of them are schools as well as agencies (which is typical in smaller markets).

You need to distinguish if you are dealing with a licensee or the agency itself.  The licensees seem to be reputable, but some have schools attached to them.

The bottom line is that Wilhelmina is a wonderful agency carrying the legacy of their namesake.  You just need to distinguish who you are actually dealing with.

You'll probably hear both good and bad, mainly because the original Wilhelmina agency licensed their name to another company which ran a known scam.

The other company kept constantly changing their name... seemingly every other week.  Some of the names included E-models, Options Talent, Trans Continental Talent, Wilhelmina Scouting Network, WSN (ofter Wilhelmina put a stop to the use of their name),and Web Style Network (keeping the same WSN abbreviation).

The company also went by a few other names, and offshoot of the company still exist to this day, trying the same scam under different names.

The REAL Wilhelmina is still supposedly a reputable company, although people 'in the know' report that the company isn't run as well as it formerly was.

Might explain why the company published a book currently available called "The Wilhelmina Guide to Modelling."

It IS the biggest agency in the world. BUT, it all depends on which agency u deal with... the LA office is diff to the MIami office to the NY office.. etc..  Not all are run the same way...

They are the real deal.. but u gotta walk in and see how u feel in there... see if u get good vibes and go with your gut feeling.
