I am actually looking for models (to pay)  but reading the way this travel notice turned out think it means that I am looking top get paid work rather than provide it.

Is this a language / cultural thing or am I just not that bright?

you might want to revise that to: "Paying Photographer..." if you are wanting to pay models.

post a 'paid' casting for models in the location you intend to be in

You should do a Wanted:Model:Paid casting and indicate projects and what they pay.

Right, I would post a casting call like this:

Negotiable Photographer in LA- (casting models for paid work)

Then, in the area where you will right details, give the time, date, and place of the shoot you want to take place. Also, give the description of what type of models you are looking for, and what type of project this will be. If this is for a client, please include that information as well.

Sweet, simple, and to-the-point should get it done.

I had the same trouble... I was seeking to travel to NC and be paid by a photographer for work.
I don't think my casting call came out that way :-/

But I did get the random drive by from a model *rolls eyes* it does pay to read....
