So here's a question:  I've been active on MM for about two weeks now (ignore the "Joined Date" on my profile- it's wrong) and I've left tags, commented in the forums, contacted a few models directly, etc. but I have yet to receive one tag, note, friend request, or even more than a few views of my photos.  And I'm just looking for TFP.  Is there something about my work that's keeping people away, or is that pretty standard for someone new to the site?  Suggestions on how to get more of a dialogue going?

Thanks.

1) become active in the forums and the announcements.

2) you make friend requests

people will start to notice you

Just keep plugging away.  Don't worry about comments, tags, etc.  Worry about making some photographs.

i know what youre saying.  im in the same boat.  if you scroll down, you can find a post i made earlier today about the same subject.

i think you hit a home run here though.  forums are the way to fly.

i posted one earlier today for the first time.  and ive had a few tfp requests/offers.  a bunch of friend requests.  one from a hair stylist right in my area that does awesome work!!

like the others have said.  keep plugging away at it.

Like the others have said, you've really got to work to get the work you want.
Put yourself out there, hold good positive professional discussions in the forums.
Go through and leave notes and tags and lots and lots of comments. Don't sugar coat things, but be honest and constructive and positive. Leave notes for photographers too complementing their work, let them know you like what they've done.

As a model I have to work to gain jobs, so its only reasonable to think that a photographer will have to work to do the same. Nothing comes easy in this business I've learned.

Good luck.

Try editing your port back to four--your avatar, Natsuko, and any two others--and replace the two others as fast as possible.

My reasoning has to do with what look like accidental silhouettes, enshadowed faces, blurry casual nudes that fly in the face of crafted "straight photography"--all the hallmarks of "I want to get together, pick up my camera, get you nekkid, and see your b(o)(o)bies" (even if all that bores you to death).  Build a new visual vocabulary; control your lighting; think in terms not of what you're shooting but of what you're illustrating; present straight ahead photography; then return to adventurous experimentation.

Well, in the forums, nobody will pay any attention to you until you've posted roughly 500 times...

To me, you may find more success in sending a simple, yet, clear message to the model in question, perhaps mentioning an idea you had in mind and why she'd fit it.  If she's interested she'll get back to you.  Still, like others mentioned, be patient.  It'll take a bit before TFP requests begin to fall from the heavens...

You have to market your self and your work.
If you have great work and no one sees it then how do they know you are great.
Post in forums.
Send models emails.
Send your own friend requests.

If you are still having trouble get your self a piebear, mosley, or dress maniquin and shoot that critter untill you know what you are doing.
Then go back to shooting humans

You know... you're absolutely correct.  This rule is clearly not applicable to most models.  Especially models with two... lucious... delicious... enticing... mouthwatering...

Go check out agencies.
You are in NY.
Your work is close to or what they want.
Start at the top and work your way down until you get some yes answers.

Your model selection is good so far though.

Do something really different and outrageous.  Follow that theme in your work so that people identify your imagery just be its unique style.  I see kind of the essence of that in your work, but you need to find an edge to get around the competition.

Well, this concludes the survey - as it is.

Succulent content with a dash of pink and eyes of varying color will indeed draw viewers to a profile. Plus, ya haf ta get out and mix a little.

I previewed your port and really think you have a nice collection of images.  One thing that seems apparent about this site is that thumbs are sized to a maximum width.  Vertically oriented images, then, can be viewed quite clearly without clicking on them to enlarge, especially if the subject takes up a large portion of the image, which on most your shots it does.  Also since the enlarged version can be a little slow to load it adds to the tendency to just view the thumbs.

I know the above sounds like a stretch but I can say that I liked the images quite a bit and didn't really feel like I needed to click many of them as the headshots view just fine at the slightly smaller thumbnail dimensions.......

You have trouble finding models- I have trouble finding photographers...

just post like crazy in the forums, comment on everything you like (even some you don't like if you have good advice), make announcements on the front page...you get the idea. I'm sure it will work for ya in the long-run.
