Models,

as a photographer I find it very helpful to know what hobbies or activities you are involved with in your profiles.  When shooting I try to take what you enjoy most or do all the time for strong outside the box ideas.    For instance if you are into juggling, we may do a shoot in a office building juggling paper balls by the water cooler and etc.  MM is not a dating site so don’t put all of your business out there, a footnote would be nice.  Thanks for your time!

I agree.  Many profiles on MM are too short. (models, photogs and stylists alike).  It really helps to know the interests and directions of the people you are working with.    Profiles should be written like a news article. - Most important stuff first, least relevant stuff last.  Writing a good profile also solidifies the direction of your present work and could create more opportunities for you and reduce the number of solicitations for things you may not be interested in.  Profiles should also be kept positive by writing about what kinds of assignments you are looking for.  Good marketing writing involves avoiding negatives. - I notice a lot of model profiles have negative phrases like "No porn", or "don't bother contacting me if [insert something you detest here]"

Some people get a little carried away here by posting way too much information in their profile. There are some here that read like a novel. I open the profile and am slammed with paragraph after paragraph of useless text.

Granted I read it for the hell of it because I figure something truly interesting must be in there. However just like Stephen Kings "It", I get to the end and I sit there wondering WTF was all that about.

I think I would be one of those who would get carried away, and put way too much stuff. I tend to talk/write a lot. Those who read most of my posts on forums know that by now!

Some of us use our images in our portfolio to show our interests...some don't. I like to, but recently, I haven't added anything new, and need to do so. I have plenty of ideas running through my head...all involving my interests such as acting, drawing, painting, swimming, etc...I think once I finally get to Germany, I'm going to do more cosplay, and also get some shots involving hiking...I love hiking!

I think it's good to include things that could be relevant, like if you're a gymnast or a dancer or actor. These things could help make an awesome shoot. But we don't need to know you're entire life story.
