I am wondering if anyone has ever experienced this. I have read many complaints regarding photographers (TFP/TFCD) who have not given pictures to models for months after the shoot. Has anyone ever had a situation where the model basically disappears. No contact, no call backs nor responses to emails. I took pictures of a model a few months ago, emailed this model jpg's of everything that was shot. The model selected the images that the model liked and I tweaked them a bit in photoshop to make them presentable. I burned print sized and web sized files on a dvd (quite a few images), I confirmed before I burned them that this model would be able to view/access these images on a dvd. Once I had the images on DVD I emailed the model stating that the DVD was ready. Received one answer on the phone where the model stated that they would call me back. Well it's been almost 2 full months since my last contact with this model. I finally stopped trying to contact this model in late April.
Has this ever happened to anyone before?

Models are forever making "guest" appearances in the industry.  They think they're into it, then after discovering no money, no interest, and plenty of pervs and weirdos, theyre out.  Happens all the time.

One I see a lot is models desperate to enter the business checking off all manner of "adult" level availability.  They get so flooded with responses, they quickly uncheck those and become exclusively "print/fashion/runway" type models.  LOL.

Its a goofy industry, but it beats engineering.

Happens every once and a while to me, there is a difference between loving my images and loving my images of them

It happens to me now and then. I figure it's just me.

Why not mail the DVD to the address on the model release?

Yes, it's happened to me. Not just with TFCD either, I had it happen recently on a shoot I was paid for.

It was my first shoot in years and didn't have a model release at the time. I now have one and I'm fine tuning it (really don't thinki I need a book for the model to read before signing smile).
I've emailed this model and asked this model when I left messages on the phone to email me a mailing address with no response. It's really ironic to me, the model had called and emailed me immediately after sending me the selections of what the model wanted. I told the model to give me a month to process them all. Finished everything in just under 2 weeks and called to make sure the model could view images on a DVD. Model told me that a DVD would not be a problem, burned them that night (exact 2 week mark from day of shoot) and no contact except when model told me that model would call me back shortly.
I swear I brushed my teeth and took a bath before the shoot and had breath mints when I talked to the model on the phone (sarcasm there).
Just find it strange that the model has made no effort to contact me for these prints nor has the model responded to my attempts to get the pictures out to the model.

I spit my water on the floor when I read that, now I have to get the cleaning crew to come clean it up. How am I supposed to explain this one to them.

Thanks for the smile.

Happens all the time. The possible explanations are too numerous to mention, but here are a few I've heard -- some of them I've actually witnessed:

1. New boyfriend hates the thought of his sweetie modeling.
2. Current boyfriend doesn't know his sweetie was modeling and gets pissed off after his friends tell him about it.
3. Model accepts Jesus Christ as her Savior and Lord and gives up her old sin nature -- which includes modeling.
4. Model moves to another state.
5. Model wakes up one morning and says, "this sucks. I'm not doing it any more."
6. Model hears all the horror stories about what can happen to models on photo shoots, and decides to spend her free time picking up strangers in bars instead.
7. Model decides she'd make more money working as an escort.

See what I mean? The possibilities really ARE endless

I have 2 different models that disappear on me. One took me 4 months to get an address to send her the CD. I had e-mailed some to her and she posted them right away so I assumed she liked the shots. Then nothing...Finally she contacted me about another shoot. That's when I got the info...but I was able to give her the cd at the next shoot!

Both models seem to disappear until they are ready to shoot.  We get some great stuff, then they are gone. No phone. No e-mail. Both seemed excited about project ideas we discussed, but now that I am trying to set dates, I can't reach them. They will show up eventually...and yes. I will shoot with them because they are very good models.

I understand what everyone is saying but it is still confusing. I just tried one more time to call the model and got the voicemail. Who knows maybe I'll be able to deliver these images one day. Thanks for all your input. At least now I know I'm not the only one who has experienced this.

Hate to have to admit it, but we get flaky every now and then. I have to have 4 notebooks of notes just to keep myself straight with dates and times, and I'm not that busy. And then of course, things will come up from time (like my boyfriend went missing last month) to time that pull my mind/rescourses away from modeling. I still complete my bookings, I just may take a week off from finding new ones and networking.

It sounds to me like you and the model fulfilled shoot commitments and there is no requirement for additional communication. Had you planned for another shoot? Have you seen any of the images used in the model's online portfolios, which to me is final indication of a successful shoot.

I am more concerned with models that disappear at every possible turn during the process leading up to shoot, which means any outcome between a negative or lack of response to the photographer's inital contact and a completed shoot.

Note: I went back and actually fully read your post, and realized that you were unable to send the CD. Did you make the images available online in any way? Perhaps they "grabbed" them that way and were satisfied with the results. Check their online portfolios.

The model's MM portfolio has been removed. He actually put up a couple of the shots on his MM port, when he sent me his request for the images that he wanted. As for putting them online, I unfortunately do not have a website where one can download their images, I intend to get one once I start doing more shooting smile. The last communication that I have had with this model was when I called him just before spring break (early April) I called him and he asnwered and said that he would call me back. Again that was early April. I tried again today but I'm washing my hands of it as of today. Either he will make the effort to contact me for the images or not. I'll keep it on DVD and file it somewhere where my kids won't eat it smile.
Thanks again for the comments and the laughs.

wayne...

You're doing too much.
If I tell a model their pics are ready and they make no effort to retrieve them...

Not my problem.
