Unfortunately what you’re seeing is very common.
The more members Model Mayhem gets, the more flakes.
I know of a model on here that regularly has to delete comments made on her pictures because of the nasty language. It will only get worse, and if MM tries to restrict membership in any way, then there'll be those that will scream out about losing their "freedom".
Sites like MM, OMP and the like are in a no win situation.

Eh, when are people gona learn there is no real freedom of speech, or that they have "rights" on the site and such. Talking on a message board, is like walking into a bar, you get too loud or roudy, the bartender is liable to kick your arse out.

The real freedom of speech is that your can say anything about something, but you don't have to...
but I have the strangest feeling, these people don't care ;o)

This must happen to a lot of female photographers.   I've had this happen to me more than a times the last few years, all offers from guys I might add.  So far, I haven't had a female model contacting me to (wink wink) take nude photos (wink wink) of her so we can get to know each other better.  So far it's just been guys offering up those kind of goods.    I should probably put a self-portrait of myself up so as to squash the behaviour...
