What is a "printwork photoshoot"?

That sounds like a shoot intended for publication in print media.  That leads to the question:  what media, for what purpose?

In general, "print" work pays from zero to $500 or so (editorial), or from zero to $50,000 or so (advertising).  Without more information it's really hard to narrow it down any further.

Then you need more information.

I have a question for you as well. Is the monetary component the only factor in your decision? If you're just doing modeling for fun, then take whatever reasonable offer is made to you. If you're doing for the experience, and a possible "tear", then do whatever it takes to land this assignment (if there are competing models). But if you're just after the money... er... keep asking because I don't know either :-p

I am not just after the money.....this is more a hobby for me than anything but I am certainly going to take advantage of it when the opportunities come along. I don't want to scare him off with something to high, nor do I want to feel like I got cheated.

I am excited about me first paid gig, and I just want it to work out, bc I know I will have fun with it and I could REALLY use the money.

There is nothing wrong with asking for more information.  You need to ask for more information.  Any professional model or agency would ask for more information.

Example hypothetical cases:

1.  He's a photographer who wants to take a headshot of you and use it to advertise himself in that one publication.

2.  He's shooting a test ad for a condom manufacturer and wants to use you in this publication before taking it nationally.

3.  He wants to use the shot to support HIV awareness in a public service ad.

4.  He runs an escort service and wants to advertise it with your picture.

Do you see that any of these could be possible, and that both your interest in doing the shoot and the rate you should charge would be contingent on knowing the facts?

"PaperCity Launched in Spring 1994, PaperCity (titled The Paper until 1998) is a style publication covering fashion, home design, social, travel, restaurants and entertaining with lively coverage of parties, galas and charity events."

Given the above, from their website, the shoot would most likely be in trendy, high fashion attire. Those shots usually pay (here) about $70-$100/hr with makeup and wardrobe provided, of course. A good magazine to have a tear from.
Hope this helps.

Jeff, that may be true for editorials in the magazine, but there is no reason to believe it is true of ads placed by advertisers in the magazine - which is what this is about.

Wow...you truly *are* helpful :-).  That was nice of you to post for her...and it actually doesn't sound bad for a beginner.  Some beginning models will take the assignment just for the tearsheet.

Congratulations to the model, btw :-)!
