Does anyone know how legitimate they are, or has anyone heard anything about them? their web address is http://www.modelsearchamerica.com/

The reason why I am asking is because I had an interview with them today, and got accepted to go to Vegas on August 25/26/27 for the model search.

I have gone to their website, and all seems very legit, but I wans wondering if maybe it was too good to be true.

Thank you,

Paola

ModelSearchAmerica (MSA) is another scam that seems to be currently owned by the number 1 scam artist Lou Pearlman. Pearlman owned EModel, Options Talent, TransContinental Talent, and more. The New York Attorney General called him a scam artist that has scammed hundreds of thousands of people.

So - here's the thing. You talk to one person. They invite you. You find out it's about $700, plus room, travel, etc. They don't invite locals since they wish for you to already have committed to airfare, hotel, etc. So you jet off to Florida or LA or Chicago or wherever you're headed. You've paid the money. You get there, and find that there are hundreds of other potential models. And MSA has invited "talent scouts" from "top agencies." Yeah - agents that are being comped their rooms, food, a little R&R time, and more.

Does the prospect of being seen by 4 or 5 agents, along with 500 or more people seem like a good deal?

Check out: . . . .

I have actually attended several MSA events, as well as a lot of other similar events.  There is a lot of misinformation in what is said above, and in those "scam" links.

"Seen by 4 or 5 agents"?  What is that all about?  Every event I've been to has had at least 40 agents, and some as high as 50.

These things aren't for everyone (they aren't for most of the people that attend), but a lot of what is written is by people who didn't bother to do their own research and be realistic about themselves and the business.

Umm...No.
Dwight Agnor owns MSA, NY Model & Talent Search and Manhattan Model Seach (which actually they're all the same event held regionally throught the course of a year going from market to market scouting. They probably do 52 scouting yearly events to bring people to the same event that's held twice a year. It's not an illegal event nor a scam by legal definition. But if you all refer to the links that TX provided you'll see why it's not and just moreso a waste of money and time. It's simply a model search event that promises false hope to so many. Some models do get signed at these events but unless you live in some place like Wyoming and WANT to move to NY, LA or Paris, then you're wasting the money. 1. If you're in (for ex.) NY AND you fit the STATS and LOOK of an agency/mainstream model then you'll get the same if not bettter results by just going knocking on agents' doors. 2. If you're in say, Wyoming and have NO intentions of moving closer to one of these agencies then you're wasting your money because no agency will rep you in a market that they have no clients and no intention of pulling clients in that area.

It's for some people but not for most. First...if you don't fit any agency stats then a model search isn't going to change that fact.

Btw, it is my understanding that Lou doesn't really dabble in the "model search event" thing. He's more for the online rape veriety. Portfolio purchasing, casting call submissions, online scouting etc. Nothing so land-based.
