What do you want your atavar to say about you?
Pretty much, what do you want your atavar to say about you? whether you change it daily, weekly, monthly, or keep it the same, do you think about how it affects your communication with other people on the forums/ etc. Jul 15 05 03:06 am Link I started to use my avatar to show myself - so people have at least an idea of who they dealing with and what kind of person they talk to. But recently I recognize it is some instrument to push the views of your port too. If you load up a good picture you get more recognition instead using one of this old guy... Jul 15 05 03:11 am Link ...that I've got at least one image worth showing the world. Jul 15 05 06:40 am Link Right now? Download my T-shirt and wear it so I can get free Advertising! Next week? I want it to say, "Gee, That Ty can do some super sh1t on a computer, I want to go get nekkid for him too!" Ok, Maybe not quite like that, But you get the idea :-P Jul 15 05 06:47 am Link Right now I'm using mine for straight-up self promotion. It's usually more representative of the model work I have here. In general I think it's a good idea for the avatar to be a simple image that doesn't reduce to a hot mess of a thumbnail. It should be compelling enough to draw people into your portfolio. I change mine randomly. Merely changing it doesn't "bump" you into view the way changing your main image on OMP does. Promoting your work is actually more difficult here than it is on OMP. Networking is more important here, so I think your avatar should be something that reflects you as you leave messages and post in forums. To that end a self portrait as avatar isn't a bad idea. (that was a tad random and disconnected. i need more coffee) Jul 15 05 06:58 am Link My atavar says " Cool Man" eyes closed...jazzman....I rather you see into my soul that just full frontal with no expression. Photographers should show theirselves instead of their work as atavars. It's knowing the artist that what we seek to know....ok hommie needs more coffee... Jul 15 05 07:05 am Link I chose mine just to be different. The majority of my work is commercial so I might as well show it. Besides, it will prepare anyone coming into the studio. You can imagine the reaction when they walk in the stuio and there are guns and knives everywhere. Jul 15 05 07:07 am Link I change mine depending on my mood. I currently have my headless body shot where I'm covering my "naughty bits". Maybe I was feeling shy when I put that one up I also use it to show my versatility. I like to use nice high-contrast images that will get someone's attention enough for them to say..."Wow! I'd like to see what else she can do." Jul 15 05 01:52 pm Link I wonder about the beautifully lit (does it make them look like run in the mill?) tied up model avatars. Here in MM I got more people to look at my port by posting an avatar of a young Chaw pup. People here are glazed over so you have to hit them with something off the wall. Jul 15 05 02:01 pm Link Posted by Hartsoe: Dude this old Guy has gottin me more hits than my bong!! Jul 15 05 02:05 pm Link Most of the time I've got some photo of myself that I've messed around with. Kind of shows that I enjoy creating art. Occassionally you'll see an image I feel like flaunting. At the moment I've got a photo of a model that I love the results obtained. Great model too Gabrielle - MM721. Jul 15 05 03:13 pm Link What do I want my avatar to say about me? HELP!! I need new pics to add to my portfolio Jul 15 05 03:17 pm Link Posted by Alex Alexander: What Sir Alex said! Jul 15 05 03:18 pm Link my avatar has gotten 100 hits, which is more than anything else in the port, so by mm standards I kinda suck... I guess it says I am the meat puppet of the masses and will use an avatar that people like Star Jul 15 05 03:28 pm Link my face is my brand. Therefore, brand recognition. People tell me to change it all the time, but I'm not doing it. Jul 15 05 03:59 pm Link My avatar is always me. Jul 15 05 04:00 pm Link Something along the lines of "I *must* work with her" Posted by Lapis: When I first started posting and reading the forums, I related the avatar to someone's face. Jul 15 05 04:28 pm Link "Well-hung." But I think it fails in that regard. Jul 15 05 05:10 pm Link Not sure but this one maybe I feed the models. Jul 15 05 05:56 pm Link That I like tall buildings? Jul 15 05 07:25 pm Link Posted by Tony Sharp: I thought it said you were very short or try to upskirt and missed. Jul 15 05 07:27 pm Link That I'm very warm and friendly and never have a short fuse or get into arguments on line with other photographers. Jul 15 05 07:30 pm Link Posted by XtremeArtists: You equivicate, prevaricate, and palter too much. Jul 15 05 07:35 pm Link I want my avatar to reflect the many different aspects of who I am both on the outer and from within. Jul 15 05 07:46 pm Link Posted by Lisa Fortier: You must be really short. Jul 15 05 09:50 pm Link I want it to say I am really a geek at heart....LOL Jul 16 05 10:31 am Link Posted by StaciF: You look like a tiny one...almost like an action figure...it would be cool if you were standing on a round base! Jul 16 05 11:02 am Link That i'm different, creative, and not afraid to experiment. Did it work? Jul 16 05 11:26 am Link Photographers all know what the models look like. Now, maybe, they too would like to know what the person behind the camera looks like... Models should rotate images frequently thus showing that they are still active! Jul 16 05 11:47 am Link |
