Anyone know of any free photo editing software available on the web?  I know someone who wants to fool around with some pictures and doesn't have any software to do it.

I'd be grateful for any suggestions.

Hey, that looks pretty good.  In fact, I'm going to try it myself.  At the moment I use Corel PhotoPaint, but you can only get so much done between crashes so it's kind of a pain to work with.

In any case, I passed on the GIMP link to the person who I was referring to.

Thanks!

If you use GIMP you have to load gtk+ beforehand.

Their website says gtk+ is "not needed for normal users".  You tryin' to tell me I'm not normal?  lol

"Normal" meaning the Linux/Unix users for whom GIMP was invented for.  If you use Windows you should download gtk+ .

Gimp is a good free alternative to photoshop There is also a hack for gimp called Gimpshop. The hack makes gimp's user interface and menus similar to photoshop. Do a google search for Gimpshop , it should be fairly easy to find.  If your using  a Mac I can highly recommend Graphic converter:

The free version is quite powerful. The full version only costs about $30 and is worth every penny. Its considered the swiss army knife of graphic applications and has very good tools for batch processing images (full version) .
