I signed with them about a month ago, and I was wondering what people's opinions were about them.

Uh yeah this is not good. Once again, would it kill models to ask some questions? No one would hire someone without looking at their resume so why would you sign with an agency if you don't know anything about them?

I do know about them. I was just wondering other people's opinions about them. they are not an agency, they are a management company. and I'm not bound to a contract, they just help to market me. I was just wondering if anyone has heard of them. They have offices in California, New York, and Michigan, and one opening soon in Chicago. There site is http://www.onesourcetalent.com

If you felt they were good enough to sign with, what do the opinions of others about them matter? Orrrrrrrrr, is this a sneaky way of slipping some advertisement for them by us without having to do so in the MM market forum?Get a discount on stuff for them if another model signs with them as a result of being referred to them by you maybe?

I remember reading somewhere that if an agency does not call themselves specifically a modeling agency then a hopeful model should steer clear of them. That the name difference avoids them of any potential lawsuits or something. I'll have to find the article.

It also helps them avoid tens of thousands in licensing and bonding insurance fees which a legit agency has to pay for as required by law.

what's the point? If you have already signed, of what value are opinions?

Are they an agency or management firm?

Okay you have

Casting Agent
Talent Agent
Booking Agent

Personal manager
Business Manager

and you could even have a Project Manager

Managers technically dont "market."

So what kind of manager are they?

are they asking for any money for anything up front?
if so, what?

what percentage are they asking for for any bookings they may find?

Why are they in Michigan?
I could be wrong but is there a market for anything in MI?

Maybe because they are across the bridge from Canada?

Ok this is what they do. they find castings for us to submit ourselves to. and they also submit us to castings themselves. they also have acting and modeling classes. they also shop us to agencies. there are days when a representative from modeling agencies come to the one source talent office to look at the talent. so far i have gotten two jobs since i've been signed with them.

Detroits market is growing. detroit has it's own magazine, own commmercials, and lot of indpendent films are made there. the super bowl was here this year and one source's models got paid good for that. and we are not limited to only work in detroit, we can search of castings throughout the country.

One Source Talent is run by the same people who ran Wilhemina Scouting Network, aka Options Talent, aka Impact Worldwide.

They have "scouts" running rampant in malls, restaurants, and on the internet, trying to "sell" their services by promising potential models and model wannabes that they can be signed on to big agencies, or get high paying jobs. Most of the time, the people that they talk into getting their services are normal looking, and just plain gullible when it comes to the industry, because they want to do anything possible to make it big. The company charges anywhere from $400-$1,000 for their "services," which in short add up to being a photo mill operation. While you can cancel working with them at any time, that does NOT mean you will get a refund for services not rendered from the company.

There are many reports on this company, and many different forum posts on different sites stating how much of a rip-off this company is. It is best to not check with the Better Business Bureau, either, because I have found many companies who have shady business practices to have gotten good reports from the BBB....all it takes is a little green waved in their face to get a good thing said about your company.

I prefer to listen to people who have worked for these companies, or people who have dealt with them personally. Oh, I guess that would be me in this case: I worked for them when they were Options Talent...so I know a little of what goes on there.

Impact also illegally copies castings from omp and other sites like (believe it or not) Craigslist and then charges models to see them.

That's right, castings that models could get for free.

I had my attorney send them a C

Tell me 'bout it. I'm waiting for the punchline.

She's asking information about one of the longest running, most notorious scammers on the net. One of the first to ABUSE internet agencies.

If you "OP" really want to know about them...do a search on the forums here and other networking sites to get all the answers you need. You're going to run into people who've personally dealt with them over the past 6 years. And also do a google search with their name and "scam" in quotes.

You won't need to go further than that.

well that's kind of my point...you need either to secure  alegit agent
or do the work yourself.....

however when you get legit representation yoiu will have to pay...however One SOurce is not legit

Sorry, I don't believe you. My opinion is that you're a "casting agent" for Impact, and you're looking to find castings on your own so you can post them there and make money when unsuspecting naive models pay for them.

That is Impact's modus operandi, and you're following it to the letter.

If you're not, then for having "signed" with them you are guilty by association, at best.

Either way, you lose.

hahaha. i am a model. that's all. think about this. if i worked for them then i would know that they were a scam right? and if i knew that they were a scam i wouldn't be asking people's opinions about them because i would be expecting bad reponses and that would just defeat the purpose. wouldn't it?

I could be wrong, but I seem to remember One Source Talent from about a year ago.  They had an office in Manhattan and told me to come down.  When I arrived the room was full of movie posters and celebrity photos.  I paid them $200 and was promised job referrals and access to a website that was different from the one you gave, but 2 weeks later the website was removed and the phone number was disconnected. I got ripped off by a lot of fake agencies/management companies when I was naive and first starting out.  Hopefully I am wrong, but I'm about 90% sure that these were one of the enemies.  Never sign with ANYONE without doing some research and asking questions.  A simple search I used to try is by typing the so-called agencies name into google followed by the word "scam".  I found a lot of dirt on a lot of posing agencies.  Good luck.
