That every offer of work paid or not is a possible scam? That most photographers are potential crimminals? That most models won't come to shoots, call or respond at all( Its happened to me, also) That innocent jokes or playfull fun has some darker meaning? That models won't get their promised photos? I'd like to try and think good things about people. Trusting in them untill they prove me wrong. While I for example ask for a small deposit for a shoot I still believe in the good nature and honesty of my fellow humans. I would say use caution as a guide but don't let baseless mistrust and paranoia rule you. For models while taking a friend is mostly a good ideal those photographers that don't allow it aren't always up to something. Photographers when a model can't make it maybe something did happen, so listen to to her/his reason with a open mind. In short lets not be so jaded. I too suffer from this problem and I'm also working on it.

This is a difficult business and there is a lot of grubbing, but thankfully when things get too discouraging I know of a few models who I can call upon who always do such great modeling for me that when I see the pictures I've taken of them I suddenly feel like a photographic genius. Bless you wonderful models!

The three photographers I've worked with were WONDERFUL. I'm excited to even be doing this, and thank each and everyone of you for supporting your models, as we try to support you. (emotionally not financially) You photographers are amazing. Thanks for this wonderful post!

its not this business at all, its life, its human beings look at children playing in kindergarden, you think any of them give a shit who is black, or white, or jewish, or muslim, or rich or poor? girl or boy? smart or stupid? nope, they just want to play together, and have milk and cookies together (and they dont care if its soy milk or real milk) and take naps together children become jaded way before they become photogs and models, etc and we contribute to their jadedness in a big way in trying to teach them to be safe from predators even my pet is now jaded, i had to teach him not to accept food from strangers, and not to eagerly try to play with every dog he meets in the dog run. he is so different now then when he was a little 8 week old puppy it is hard to approach someone today, as we did as a child in kindergarden, when all we needed to say then was "you wanna be friends?"

The only 'premadonna' thing about me is that Im particular about analyzing photographers' profiles and making sure they dont have intent to do a photoshoot that isnt my cup of tea. Thats about it.

I'll be travelling to southeast Asia fairly soon. While I'm there I plan on purchasing some gems and precious stones. So, I guess I'll become Jaded from the experience.

Thats a beautiful ideal though... Often they can be open... until one is different in a singular way. And then all bets are off. And yeah, I'm jaded.

I too suffer from this problem and I'm also working on it. I definitely feel you on this. This is one of the reasons I don't stick around a lot of (what I feel are) questionable topics too long, as people start to actually believe that all of us are like that. The models that I've been in touch with on this board have been great, and I applaud them for their openmindedness and maturity. It takes a lot to not fall for (and believe 100%) the various stories that are posted here. For the most part, they are the exceptions, and I often think of them being just that. If I can't have fun shooting something/someone, it's just not meant for me to shoot.

Oh, and no, I don't feel jaded, yet. I DO feel that way on those rare occurences when a model doesn't show, but all it takes is for me to find another one to make me forget the other one.

It always nice when we have drama free shoots and work with cool people. Don't we all have enough problems at work and our personal lives? I love those for me rare models who show up on time, ready and willing to shoot. I know more are out there but I have to also do my part and try and be as drama free as possible also.
