I have really heard enough bashing of other modeling sites. Both OneModelPlace and ModelMayhem are great sites. They both offer something completely different. There are a lot of models, photographers and MUAs that have benefited from excellent expose from both these sites. Please people; support these people and their efforts. They are the best representation we in the industry could ask for. If you think you can provide a better service, by all means step-up-to-the-plate!

What I love best about MM is that photographers can get FREE accounts.

There are numerous Photographer/model/artist sites on the internet. Each performes a function. I often think the bashing says more about the basher than it does about the bashee.

I agree....I have accounts with both and get work from both. If a 3rd or 4th site comes along that I like.....I will sign up with them too. I guess you can say I am a whore in that way.

You know, like back in junior high when you wanted to fit in you picked on the kids the popular people picked on. I see a lot of the people who bash OMP ,,,,,,,ON OMP with PAID memberships, lol.

I use both sites. I have problems with both sites, and there are things I like about both sites. Thank god we don't have to be modeling site membership monogamous. Hell, I am going to join a few more sites too....that way, whenever I get angry at one site, I can just move on to another one for a few hours.

OMP: pay the $10 and sign up as a photographer, get stone-cold silence, pop-up ads, and an endless stream emails about new models 500 miles away (I live in Texas). Sign up as a model and get flooded with 1000 emails the next day offering everything from TFCD to footrubs to marriage. MM: sign up, nada. Send mail, get 1 response back out of 10 sent. Make an Annoucement and it flies off the home page faster than Rush Limbaugh making a late-night run to the pharmacy. But the forums are a great community and I've actually found a few people around here who might be willing to shoot, at least when I travel outside of Armpit, Texas. MySpace: sign up, find hundreds of listed "models," but they're all just ANTM fans who are creeped out if you mail them asking their portfolio needs and availability. But I've gotten more work (including paid) on my calendar through MySpace than through MM and OMP combined.

You get free accounts on OMP, too. Unless you want to upgrade beyond bronze I do not think 10 bucks as an application fee is unfair at all considering the space used and all. Sounds like a kit fee.

There is a feature on OMP which sends a contact email to a new model as soon as she signs up from each paid membership photographer in her state. This can be good and bad. Most often it overwhelms the new model because she can not handle all the emails. I helped a few models on OMP with emails , theyd ask me advice on who was legit and such. Many models get as many as 5-10k hits on their portfolios in their first 24 hours on the site.

OMP has gotten too political in a lot of subtle ways. MM, who knows?

I'm on both sites, and like them both for different reasons. I like the basic anonymity of OMP sometimes and I like being able to communicate in the forums on MM sometimes. I really don't understand the bashing, either.

I like both. I have good and bad results from both and support both financially. Flakey models and GREAT models on both sites. Favorite things about OMP:There I can have one of my fine art Nude images as my main shot. More traffic and more hits. Better search features. Favorite things about MM: Less porn stars and porn creators. Better Price. Less GWCs so I can actually see great work by others. I value this almost as much as finding models. Mike

Its like the Southern and Norther Clalifornia Feud. You ask anyone in SF about LA and they all go... LA!? EWE!!! I HATE LA and the people there! YUCK!!! You ask someone in LA about SF and they say..OOOOHHH! its so pretty there... too bad its cold all the time but its really relaxing. Basically its a Feud people dont even recognize. DUMB to bash site. at the very least its THE PEOPLE IN THEM that make it what it is. I agree there are a fair share of "MODELS" and "GWCs" that ruin in it for many. Hence I no longer shoot TFCD at all....(well I have my exceptions list.. but its really short) actually Im deciding on shooting TFCD in LA to give the models a chance. SF.. FORGET IT! no soup for you!

Whether itâs MM or OMP, the bottom line for a photographer is whether the site is a good source of talent. Some I'm sure, have had great results, I'm not one of them. Both sites been very poor sources, though I do enjoy the MM forums.

When OMP chose to ban Glamour1.com I chose to cease my visits. Between G1 and MM I am quite happy...

How typical, but I have to throw my 2 cents worth in and disagree. how totally out of character. lol Actually, I agree with most everything, except that I think the sites are actually very similar, and offer pretty much the same things. Forums, chat, e-mail systems, networking, portfolios, models, photographers, artists, TFP's, flakes, GWC's, etc. etc. Now that MM has paid memberships to get enhanced features, that gap closes even further. OMP doesn't have Mr. GWC though, so it's behind the ball. GWC rules. I keep hearing that OMP/MM does this but MM/OMP doesn't, etc. etc. and quite frankly the comments typically show the immaturity of the author more than anything else. (OMP/MM and MM/OMP means names interchangable) So I'll have to agree. Use either or both sites for the perceived value and let's talk photography and modeling as opposed to trash. Andy

Timeless Photos wrote: Please people; support these people and their efforts. They are the best representation we in the industry could ask for... If the industry you speak of is cottage industry of picture-post sites then you're right. If you mean the industry of modeling then you really don't know the modeling industry. MM is very clear in their mission statement that this is nothing more than a place to hang some photos and do some networking. OMP has a mission based on their economic welfare without much consideration to its membership. If proof is needed, just use the search function of each. Neither are even close to what the industry requires. That doesn't take away the fun aspect of hanging around based on what is offered, but they both should be taken at face value.

I agree with others here, I am a member of OMP and Model Mayhem (not paid yet though) and also on Modelplace.com. They all have features I like.

I have been a long time member of OMP (since 2001). Despite hiccups or other nonsense which is no less occurant on other sites, OMP has never failed to bring in positive results. I enjoy both OMP and Model Mayhem equally. You have to take the good and the bad when dealing with any post site on the internet. It is as simple as that.

Does OMP still block links to other model sites like MM? If so that is reason enough not to use them.
