This is a really interesting point. I have also been guilty of mistaking artistic respect for personal worth. I think it's just human nature to think you would personally like someone who's work you respect.
In fact when my wife first discovered MM online she found Shane's gallery. While we were looking at it, she commented "I wanna hang out with that guy, he seems really cool". (No, Shane I'm not kissing up, she really said that)
Anyway, we've never met, but because she liked the photos and the bio, she figured she would like you personally.
