digital imaging has both helped AND hindered the industry...the days of the local guy who shot your older sisters wedding...your senior photo and now YOUR childs pixs are all but over...i wonder what the profitable shelf life of a photographer.

Whatever is offered in a supermarket and is sitting on a shelf is not being used and will sooner or later perrish.

If you are a photographer and you sit on the shelf... it's time to find another job, or you'll be evicted for non payment of your rent.

The medium is irrelevant.  A good fashion, editorial or commercial photographer will work his whole life. 

Just because the cameras have changed it doesn't mean that talent has.

agreed...BUT...even the boys and girls shooting for the "SHOW" are finding dwindling budgets which makes that facet of the industry less desirable.
