I want start a more refined thread that rises above the general ranting on how everything goes bad or people are how they are... I truly believe MM is a better place then that.

So my question is really to both models and photographers... and simply put its 'What do you expect from the shoot?'

It is not a simple question so I will start this discussion off (and please keep it on the tracs but feel free to expand your visions):

As a photographer: Of course it goes beyond saying that a level of professionalism is a necessity. Not seriousness per say but a sense that the model feels comfortable and somewhat trusts the photographer on his skill (has done the research and can value the work of the photographer as something worth being a part of).
Being that I shoot for myself and no commercial value in mind, I expect the models is aware of the level of work and compensation of Prints (or scans). I always try to meet with models prior to shooting and describe and show her some of my work prior to shooting.
For that shoot I offer her my interpretation of light and shadow with a print for her time. I expect her to be aware that she is getting something unique and different per the idea we might have agreed upon prior to shooting. I do not pay my models. I do however care to take my time and offer to be there if they might need any advice or recommendations in the future. I tend to like to shoot with a model more then once given she enjoys it and it helps her to get a lot more comfortable in front of the camera. It helps my work because the person builds in my book.
But what I expect from the model is wanting to be there with her personality and enjoyment for the process. No worrying about money, no escorts out of fear of who knows what. (No matter what’s been said on that it’s a distraction. Do your homework on who you working with and if you do it thoroughly enough this is not an issue.)  The only think I expect from the model is to be ready to work on something she enjoys.

Of course I realize this is my personal view point based on how I work. I'm hoping that perhaps maybe we can all come up with a cretin genre that models and photographers can pool from without all the confusion that every 4 out of 5 post on MM ranting on the missed expectations.

Any ideas? Would love to hear from Models on this.

As a model, i expect professionalism throughout a shoot, interesting angles and good image quality, i expect to be able to work with the photographer and debate which images worked best.

I prefer colourful images, and a lot to choose from,

But if i am working for the photographer i would meet his requirements and do as he asked within negotiation and reason. I would also remain professional and easy to work with throughout the shoot.

But you also have to give credit to the expereince the photographer might have in choosing the particular idea. Remember that the photographer works with diffrent models and over time develops a certin style. So he or she might edit your choices to what the expereince might interpret as what works best for you.

I expect the model to be fun and easy to work with.
See my vision and have fun with it. Knows somewhat if not a pro at posing.

Expect to get some good shots and expect everything to go off without a problem.
