Check 2 things for your rights to do business out of your condo, the Horizontal Property Regime (this is filed with the state by the condo association) and it will outline what is your private property - also check your Association of Condo Owners Bylaws, this lists your rights as a member of the condo association. Some condos have rules against runnign storefronts from your unit, but most allow home office/studio set ups. You just can't be running a photo gallery out of the unit.

C'mon... have some FUN with the situation During the interrogation process from the HOA staff!!!

If the photos are of some hot young females, say something like:

"No Mrs. Miller, those aren't my photos.  I think they're your photos!  Isn't the girl in the photo your cousin?  Really?  She's not a cousin?  Why on Earth would Mr. Miller say that  when I saw them going into your home (while you were away taking care of your sick grandma)?"

i don't see what all the fuss is about.  yes, they (homeowners assoc's) can tell you what you can plant in your yard... how tall picket fences can and can't be... cite you for letting the paint peel off your garage.  sure they can.  but they can't tell you what and what not to eat for dinner and who you can and can't have over.  if it's legal by city and county laws... then mr and mrs jones next door can't say sh*t (would have spelled that out, but i don't want to offend the jones')

point sofar missed by everyone is that if somones 14yr old found them (bearing any nudity) a month or 3 back and had them hidden and momy found them and the kid said they were in the courtyard, they may argue the owner of them is disseminating pornography to children.
when asked a question, reply with a question.

tell them they might be props for a discussion on the srxuality course your toutoring & somone thought they were doing you a favor by leaving them for you. burden of proof for anything is that if you left them by accident or purposely. but ovcourse you did not put or cause to have left them there. reggardless of who actually took (created) them!

Greetings all, well I had my meeting and here is the upshot.  I tried to talk to a lawyer but he was such an unbelievable jerk that anything would have been preferable to speaking to him.  The situation was so weird that it would have been impossible to get any sort of helpful advice anyway.
I went to the apartment and sure enough, there were these two dweebs from the Association and this old hag who runs things.  The photo’s that somehow got into the lobby were so tame that any ad from Wall mart would have had more risqué photos in the lady’s underwear or swimsuit ads.  That did not stop the heroic trio from being “concernedâ€? (bored) enough to call me in.  It seems that by photographing women I was somehow compromising the safety of the building, I was reminded of some of the stupid stunts that “Bunneyâ€? had pulled, showing up an hour early when I was not home from work yet.  Leaving her idiot boyfriend and his idiot friends in the parking lot (they were Asian as well something none of the board members liked).  I explained I was not running a business and the photo’s should have spoken for themselves, but still I got the distinct impression I was the one who was in the wrong, at least as far as they were concerned.
Right or wrong has little bearing in the world; I should know this by now.  I have, in the past, been right but was treated wrong.  The world is not fair and this was one of those times.  The very fact that I photographed females in my unit was enough to raise the ire of these idiots and there is no way I am going to try and convince them otherwise.    What real recourse does one have against morons in charge of ones living situation?  I like my place.  I have not put one toe out of line ever, but that is not going to cut any ice with this crew I.  Refused to deny the pictures were mine because they would not have raised an eyebrow on Nickelodeon  besides I am proud of my work, it’s important to me.  If I acted guilty then I would be guilty.  Perhaps I already am guilty to them.  I am not married, I travel to SE Asia on vacation, I work with chemically dependent and mentally ill people, and any one of those reasons is enough for ignorant people to label me as someone different.  I told them I would never again leave photo’s out where anyone could see them, and I would be extra careful with guests, this did not seem to make the old hag any happier, I think she would prefer I don’t have any guests at all.  The fact that I have not shot with any one in my place since March had no bearing.  I said good buy and left.  There is nothing I can really do about this, I was right.  I did not break any rules.  I have lived properly and that’s all I can do.  Perhaps I just can’t shoot at my place, perhaps I will have to rent a studio or shoot outside to appease narrow-minded fools who would not know pornography from a pop tart.  Welcome to planet earth.  In any case I don’t want to dwell on this any more then I already have, we have a limited number of days in this world and I refuse to waste any more of them then I already have  on this crap.

So the photos were yours. Any idea of how they got there in the first place?

The old hag is probably jealous that shes not an asian hottie that someone wants to take photos of.

Johnny don't back down from these people. They do not control your living situation, they just want you to think they do. Makes it easier to control you that way. Did you break a rule? Did you break a law? Tell them the next time they find your property to return it promptly.

Oh and another thought, did they happen to make copies of your photographs? If they did stress to them they need to destroy all copies or they will be breaking the law. Next time you deal with these people take a tape recorder, place it on the desk, inform them you will be taping the procceedings.

Keep on shooting.. Invite who you want to your home. It is your home.

Color?? That's why you're a GWC, everybody knows you can only do "fine art" in B&W.

Hey, does it count if it's a color photo that's desaturated?!

Could someone with a gripe have printed them from your site (assuming they can be seen there) and conveniently left them there to get you in trouble?

I had something similar happen to me. I had been in a long-running dispute with some noisy neighbors and had posted some links to audio I had recorded of them in my community's forum. I used a service that I thought hid the URL, but it revealed my website URL.

An image of myself that is unflattering if taken out of context was printed and put on my street's common mailbox.

First of all, why in the hell were they in the lobby and not in your own place???  I know if I were a model and a photographer was careless with the images that he took I would be upset.  Second of all, why wouldn't they show you the photographs...they may not be yours...if they aren't that will be a good thing.  I don't think that it is anyone's business what you do in your own private townhome.  People take pictures everyday.  I would check the association rules to make sure what you are able to do and not able to do as far as code/bylaws.  Some don't allow you to run a business out of your home...some are ok with it but give limitations.  If this isn't a business and just a hobby.....then I would mention that at a meeting.  It is pretty bad that you can't take pictures in your townhome without someone being nosey.  I would hate to see what it was like if you have a significant other and were having sex.  If it were me....I would rub it into the woman's face..but that is just me.  If she wants to see give her a show!  LOL.  Sorry my bad...ummm, seriously, I wouldn't worry about it that much until you find out if they are your pictures.  The next thing I would do is make sure that you have all documentation on the models you have photographed.  And from now on make sure you have all legit information even on the minors...you may have that now...and that is great...just keep it up.

If it's not porn what is the big deal ?  You have every right to take pictures as long as you don't have pictures with the name of the place you live in them. Bylaws never state things about taking pictures. They might have a bylaw about keeping your clothes on at the pool but if that is the case all they can do is tell you you can't do that here..No big deal.
