Cover charge for model calls?
I was wondering if its "legite" if a model calls requires a $10 cover charge? Whats that about? Jerina Mar 23 06 11:03 am Link I'm pretty sure any type of cover charge is to cover the cost of venue that's rented and any other expense that was used to hold the model call...it's definitely not illegal. I've never had a prospective client charge me for meeting me and looking over my portfolio, and I would certainly discourage that practice. On the other hand I've heard of paying a wedding show producer for the opportunity to "sell wares" at his show. Can you tell us more about the model calls you're asking about? Mar 23 06 11:17 am Link NO NO NO! ABSOLUTELY NOT! Total scam and bad buisness on the company's part. I used to write a column on modeling scams and this was always one of questions I would get emails about. Registration fee, start up fee, sing in fee...its all a bunch of dog poop. NEVER pay anything out of your pocket. Imagine going to the america's top model auditions they hold every season and asking if there is a sign up fee. They'll look at you like you're crazy. What is this world coming too. I told them to go eat a sack of poop!
