Hey when you give your models their CD after a shoot. Do you leave your watermark on the image?

When I have them sign the model release and agreement that they only use watermarked touched up images online.  They typicall recieve unedited full size images for them to print themselves if they want, and the touched up, watermarked websize images, with the option to purchase touched up individual prints from me.

I doubt this is how most do it, but this is how I do it.

I watermark the edited web images. The high resolution versions have no watermark, but the model is instructed to give full credit.  I never give unedited images.

I don't understand this.  Why put a watermark on a little 50K image that isn't really of much use?  And then NOT watermark the big file.  Hmmm.

And please, make them tiny, huge watermarks are distracting and say bad things about the photographer's ego.

I watermark the small images so that they come back to me with the full sized images they want, and I can make sure that the full sized ones look good. Otherwise, becuase my small sized images with the Canon 5D are still "printable" they will put god awful images in their ports and never come back to me for the touch-ups. Also with the release they only get a certain number of images all the other ones in proof form need to be watermarked with my copyright,

Its not about the photographer's ego - its about not having your work show up on a porn website or as an avator for some hooker.  Just because they can't print it out, doesn't mean someone can't misuse it.

Been there, done that, watermark my stuff now.
