stolen work/false promises/softcore porn
I have a friend who did a shoot with a photog that claims to have put models in FHM/MAXIUM/PLAYBOY and many others. When I looked at his site there are some great B&W's and artistic nudes, but when compared to his "other" pics... they're clearly not his work. My friend is expecting to be in the JAN issue of MAXIUM because of this flake and his lies. And expecte dafter this shoot with him to get paid rediculous rates based on this "first shoot" she's done with him. He has propositioned her with "other" paying work; you know what I mean by that. I heard from another MM model when I gave her the link to see what I was talking aobut she noted that there was a forum about this guy stealing work and trying to get girls to do porn... I would appriciate any help from anyone who knows this guy or anything about the stolen work. His website is steelcityphotography.com my friend is Alyssa. Feel free to help me out by letting her know about this guy. Thanks!@ Help me stop these kind of people with cameras from claiming to be photographers and using that title to lure girls into getting nude with false promises. -Corey Jun 28 05 11:15 pm Link I have got nothing except the title was more promising. Misleading even. I want the quarter, I put into the thread machine. Jun 28 05 11:28 pm Link Posted by Jack D Trute: sorry NO REFUNDS! Jun 28 05 11:51 pm Link Hmmm... Never heard of him. Jun 29 05 03:44 pm Link Posted by The Corey: The first step in this process is for people like your friend to get the stars out of their eyes and use a little common sense. Any photographer working for Maxim or any other major magazine is going to have credentials and references a mile long, not some little site with a handfull of lo-res scans on it. Jun 29 05 03:59 pm Link I came across the name before, but can't associate it with a name of someone I might've met online. Anyhow, I checked out their site and noticed they're doing Model Management. Because of all the scrutinizing everyone has been doing in the forums in the past two years about "Managers", I'm not sure it was a wise decision on their part to list that as a service offering. I wouldn't. Unless I got my license and bond as a Talent Agent, then I would, then I'd tell ya'll to shut up about Managers already. Lol. Jun 29 05 04:01 pm Link if he truly promised her things he had no intention of fulfilling it is fraud Jun 29 05 04:03 pm Link Posted by Melvin Moten Jr: You can have a sandwhich at my house any day. Jun 29 05 04:26 pm Link He's on ModelMayhem as well. https://modelmayhem.com/member.php?id=1968 Funny how his fineart is so well done but his other work is sh*t, taken with a digital compact... Jun 29 05 04:27 pm Link That is kind of odd. If anyone has the time, it could be a fun challenge to see if those black & whites can be found on someone else's site. :p Jun 29 05 04:35 pm Link I've been modeling in Pittsburgh for the past 2 1/2 years. Depending on her limitations, I'd be more than happy to help her find a fantastic photographer. Jun 29 05 04:38 pm Link Posted by Jack D Trute: looks like 25¢ might be a bargain... Jun 29 05 04:41 pm Link Posted by Josie Nutter: Sometimes people who steal images forget to edit out the EXIF data. That can be lots of fun. Google image search will sometimes turn up useful stuff, too. Jun 29 05 04:44 pm Link Posted by Melvin Moten Jr: Posted by Joe K. Oh, stop being so cynical. Here's a list of just a few resources in that area. Jun 29 05 04:48 pm Link Posted by The Corey: thants a daunting task..easier done here as its a free site so tyler caters to no one.. Jun 29 05 04:52 pm Link Posted by GWC: Wow! you sure know a lot of stuff for a GWC! Jun 29 05 04:54 pm Link According to the frontpage of Seel City Photographers they employ 300 people. Perhaps one of those 300 hard working shutterbugs too those good pictures... Its interesting to see the tags this place is getting. They are putting their name out all over the place. If they are not legit, then Mayhem needs to close them down. Jun 29 05 05:05 pm Link Wow...Yeah I've definetly seen one of the pictures in his profile somewhere else. Most of them look like bad amature porn. Its amazing that he got so many posative tags from people. Thats pretty sad. Jun 29 05 05:53 pm Link Tell her to run away. Quickly. I was contacted by steel city photography not long after joining this site. We were working on arranging a shoot, and nothing seemed suspicious. Then I met him, at the Columbus OH group shoot. He convinced a good friend of mine to do some things on camera that she had never intended to do . (I have the pictures, but out of respect for her, I will not post them here.) Not only that, but he was trying to recruit us both for his porn work, telling us how much he would pay for each...activity. He was also obnoxious and lewd to the point that I actually left the room while he was mid-sentence. Needless to say, he ruined what had been a very good day, and we left in disgust. As far as I know, he caused quite a bit of trouble both at the shoot and afterwards. If anyone has anything good to say about him, I would like to hear it, as I can't think of a single thing. edit: He also does a hell of a lot more than softcore porn. In the midst of my conversation with him, he turned to the model he brought with him and asked if she could do DVDA, because it would make him a ton of money. *vomit* Jun 29 05 08:13 pm Link Posted by nyx: I had to look that term up. Jun 29 05 08:22 pm Link Models should always get referrals. Did she get referrals?? Models should always look under the hood before shooting with someone. Jun 29 05 08:26 pm Link Posted by XtremeArtists: Posted by nyx: I had to look that term up. That was a new one for me too. Had to resort to the Urban Dictionary. Jun 29 05 08:32 pm Link Posted by XtremeArtists: Posted by nyx: I had to look that term up. So did I...and I don't think that Xtreme would be in the dark about 'common' porn terms...this seems pretty obscure...so I looked it up. Here it is folks: Jun 29 05 08:34 pm Link I was going to explain it, but it's already been done rather well. Anyway, http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=dvda&r=f Jun 29 05 08:36 pm Link How the hell would a young innocent model even know that term when LarryB and Xtreme are unfamiliar with it???? Jun 29 05 08:36 pm Link Posted by nyx: I can say something good about that guy... He gave me something to talk about with the models at the group shoot... They got Kicked out of the hotel that morning for shooting Nudes outdoors. As soon as they got there really made me uneasy. being in the same areas made me uncomfortable and i just stayed away from him. Other then his causing problems was really good i think, with out him would have been great... Jun 29 05 08:38 pm Link Posted by Lapis: Hmm...maybe I should lay off the hentai... Jun 29 05 08:39 pm Link Posted by Lapis: Hey, who says I'm not young and innocent? Jun 29 05 08:41 pm Link Posted by Lapis: I can only wonder for how long... Jun 29 05 08:45 pm Link the girl in the orignal post 13263 all her stuff is his, and she's the model who arrived with him if i remember right, they at least never left each other that i could tell... Jun 29 05 08:53 pm Link Posted by Ian Powell: And from the way they were talking to each other, and to my friend and I...I'm sorry, but it was pretty obvious this girl knew exactly what she was doing. Jun 29 05 08:56 pm Link she had all day to get away from him. I couldn't call her a victum in this. Jun 29 05 08:58 pm Link Posted by Ian Powell: I think I already said that.
