I'll leave my opinion out of this for now...

but there seem to be a lot of people saying that suicide girls or girls who pose nude do "porn" so I'm guessing dancing nude or topless would have to fall into the same (or worse!) category, right?

just curious...

One more time... for the record...

Nudity is not porn.

Porn = sucking, screwing or otherwise "penetrative/invasive" activities.

I think some people fail to make the distinction between porn and things done in poor taste.

Is exotic dancing porn?  No.  Although a few times I'd sort of hoped it could turn into one...but that's another story from the naughty side of my voyeuristic mind:-P

As badly as *some* do it, it should be labled obscene

But, when done well, is an art form like any other.

Are belly dancers on that list, cheerleaders ?

The "-graphy" part of pornography means that it must be written or recorded.

If you examine "belly dancing" from a historical and cultural perspective, no....however, during its acculturation into other cultures it took on a more sexual purpose...originally, "belly dancing" was used for spiritual/meta-physical and health reasons.....the origins of the art are in Kemet not Turkey...KMT is Egypt

Pornography has to be lascivious and without social, cultural, or artistic value.  In order to be considered art, it has to also have meaning, in addition to value.  That is, one might search for some kind of deeper meaning in a Martha Graham dance, but will certainly not find it in most exotic dance (if by that you mean club stripping).

Standards for pornography are not set by the federal or state government, unless they involve minors.  Otherwise the criteria is set by community standards (as well as other cultural, religious, and family values and traditions).

That said, any particular dancer can be expressive, and along the lines of Suicide Girls, for example, there is a neo retro burlesque revival that might be considered valuable and meaningful, albeit in low-culture sort of way.

Oh, and yeah, merely having sex is not porn.  Where the hell do you live?  Texas?

I'd have to say yes, but not because they're nude, but because it is their intention to sexually arouse and stimulate the viewer(s)....... (Not there's anything WRONG with that...)

I think you have porn confused with prostitution. And for specifics sake lets say strippers photgraphed or video taped strip dances to complete the graphy part.

Yes it is porn. Soft core, low quality porn. SG is a whole another debate. I think SG is on the line, they could tilt over into nude art but there is more money in high quality soft porn.

sucking, screwing or otherwise "penetrative/invasive" activities= hard core porn.

porn= images, text, film, etc that is design exclusively to sexually arouse the veiwer/ reader.

art= images, etc that is design to convey the expressions of the artist.

nude != porn

porn != nude there is plenty porn out there without nudity.

"!=" = not equeal to

what if my husband films it, and we only watch it when we're feeling dirty?

porn today sucks, they should have classy romantic "casablanca" style porn nowdays

porn today just seems like a bad knock knock joke

and sometimes suicide girls and godsgirls do lesbian porn, or photos

exotic dancing usually is erotic, strippers just think exotic sounds better.
