All this Porn and Nudity Talk... a question
Hello All, I see so much of this. So many posts of what is porn and the offensive way nudity steps in to discourage work. Maybe its me butn there is such a different line between Nudity, Erotic, and Porn images. Huge difference!! Maybe its because I grew up and still read more European media then American but why is it that this topic is somewhat covered without such drama in those magazines. So my question is ... why is there so much offense to Nudity with the quick wrap 'I am not doing Porn'? Is there so little great Nude work out there? If Helmut Newton, as an example, was posting here would models label him in a negative or positive way? His work is superb witha very strong Erotic feel at times but how is that seen by models here on MM? -Marek Feb 26 06 12:13 am Link Because the world is full of idiots.. and the internet is their key to come out of their lil spots. Feb 26 06 01:39 am Link Every model here would be stripping down trying to get Newton's attention. I believe there are too many electrons wasted trying to define undefinable concepts. But just a note here - I don't believe there is any such thing as non-sexual nudity in photography. And I don't believe this is the fault of (or a credit to) American culture. It is my experience that in Europe where casual toplessness and nudity are acceptable dirung lunch breaks in the summer, everyone's ogling everyone and the thoughts flitting through their minds are not those of the "texture and topography of the feminine human form." Europeans like butts and boobies just as much as Americans. They just don't giggle about it. Respectfully submitted, Your friend, Don Feb 26 06 01:50 am Link This entire debate is web related, the result of half-a-gazillion-girls attempting to parlay a body and a dream into a modelling career via TFP with photographers who have invested 30 mins and a coupla grand in gear in hopes of what i remain unsure. The above is qualified by the usual rules regarding blanket statements and generalizations. Should be taken as a grain of salt... but I can tell you when models were models and photographers were photographers and no-one found cute lil names for their status (like GWC, GWB, webmodel, etc) this just wasnt a debate, and VERY few models who were not specifically seeking adult work received serious offers to masturbate for the camera TFP so the photographer might help find a cure for cancer by publishing a book of these images and donating the proceeds. Its a freakin sewer out there, and un-represented, often unaccompanied, subjects are at risk. If they get a mite gunshy, it's hard to blame them. I see alot of references to nude images published in some pretty well established places being justification for why any girl should disrobe and have her picture taken. This doesn't wash unless your proposal includes a bona fide assignment for these images to be so published. Otherwise, its an act of faith. Not every model is Angie Everhart. There is no imperative to be naked just because someone asked. Nor is it even vaguely reasonable for a model to assume that every invitation to disrobe is an ill-intentioned ploy to get her into adult work. Its the web people. Few pros and lots of posers. Little opportunity to make any real money, but lots of dreams... both good and bad. Cheers Feb 26 06 01:59 am Link D. Brian Nelson wrote: Bravo! Feb 26 06 02:03 am Link D.
