I would love to have an option to "browse" for digital artists.  I love looking at images of all kinds, but I have a hard time finding digital artists...does anyone know some really good ones here on MM?  Please share their info if you do...wink

Thanks much!

I don't know about "best", but there's a number of digital artists whose work I admire.

Greg vander Houwen, largely not photo-based.

Jill Greenberg, the Manipulator

Jeffery Scott.

Glen Mitsui: digital illustration, generally not photorealistic.

Michael Rosen

Eydis Luna, photographer and digital artist.

Glenn Honiball, mostly for completely invisible editing.

Bert Monroy: hyper-realism

Jeffery is one of the best.

He doesn't seem to talk about this much, but you know he used to be a sculptor and made lots of maquettes for movies. He and I were talking at a party once and he told me about that. I think that is why he is good at making these crazy digital compositions - because he has an imagination that works in 3-dimensions from sculpting. As a result, I think it's very easy for him to visualize perspective and angles and lighting in 2D photos and art and create things that many of us would have a hard time figuring out how to compose.

Ones that I thoroughly enjoy here on MM...

Archangel - https://www.modelmayhem.com/member.php?id=20315
Atomic Effect - https://www.modelmayhem.com/member.php?id=26441
Christopher Lee Donovan - https://www.modelmayhem.com/member.php?id=24088
ILLIXIT - https://www.modelmayhem.com/member.php?id=6631
Jeffery Scott - https://www.modelmayhem.com/member.php?id=1980
Michael Rosen - https://www.modelmayhem.com/member.php?id=1941
picassos_pen - https://www.modelmayhem.com/member.php?id=71584

Hey Toria! Great topic! There's this Australian sculpture / photographer that totally blows me away... when I first saw his work I had one of those "I totally suck!" moments. He had more of his digitial work online when I first ran acorss him, but you can see a few pieces and quite a few of his sculpters. His name is Tim Wetherell (formerly Thompson). His home page can be seen here:

And his digital photographic work can be seen here:

http://wwwrsphysse.anu.edu.au/~tdt050/vision/older.html

He's also the artist that designed the Vision Tarot deck.

There's a subtler guy in Chicago with some mad skills:

Joel Peter Witkin is the best and he's not even digital.
All the other black and white digi-artists follow his lead, poorly.
Or they unknowingly follow his followers.

Another vote for Max V.. (And thanks to those who mentioned him before because I was going to call him Max M by mistake..)

Eric Muss-Barnes had some really beautiful composites up at one point...  Not sure if they're still there or not..

That's the kind of stuff I aspire to.

I do some digital manipulation but I don't know if I would describe myself as a "digital artist"

I'm more of a photo re-toucher.

I do have some extreme photo retouching posted on that "other site":
