Signatures on Work???
Just a quick Question for all Photographers, how are we supposed to handle signatures on work...Does TFP/CD get sigs? Please let me know how this is handled...Thanks Feb 17 06 11:20 pm Link Do you mean copyright sigs? Unless the copyright is explicitly sold in the contract, it belongs to the photographer. Feb 17 06 11:28 pm Link Right... Feb 17 06 11:31 pm Link Copyright remains with the photographer, whether or not you stamp your copyright notice all over it. Note, however, if you stamp your copyright notice all over the model's pictures, they will not be able to use them on their printed portfolio or comp without looking like a rank amateur. For online display, some photographers provide the models with images and their name/website info. on it (most likely to get referral work). However, this is a practice particular to each photographer. Personally, I don't mark images that I give to models in this way as it makes them less usable than "clean" images. Regards, Denoy Feb 17 06 11:36 pm Link Thats what I was wondering---It looks rank amature? I just was not sure If I should be using TFP/TFCD as a permotional tool...any advise? Feb 17 06 11:42 pm Link Anyother answers? Feb 17 06 11:52 pm Link McKenzie Bros Photo wrote: Promotional tool for what...to get more TFP/TFCD offers? Feb 17 06 11:53 pm Link good point...thanks Feb 17 06 11:55 pm Link After all that time and money you spend on a TFP/CD you should at least expect to use the images for self promotion (including places like this). For my TFCD I supply print size images without a sig. The pre-sized internet versions I frame and put my tag in the frame. Feb 17 06 11:56 pm Link thanks for the info...print size photos for internet...hmmmm Feb 18 06 01:33 am Link I hate tagging - it's time consuming and looks ugly on the pictures - but here are the reasons why I do it: 1. A lot of models fail to credit their photographer(s). 2. Tagging cuts down on "second-party" Photoshop butchery. 3. I don't like the idea of anyone making infinite copies of my work. 4. The advertising is part of my compensation for doing a TFP shoot. 5. If prints are made, I want them to be good prints. - Crappy inkjet prints make me look bad. - Inkjet prints make the model look extremely amateur. - Professional print costs (depending on vendor) are very close inkjet costs.
