Fearlessness.
I find myself using "fearless" when describing or soliciting models. Some have called me "fearless," which is far from true, but I like the feeling of the descriptor. What does "fearlessness" mean? Is "fearlessness" a good quality in a model? Why or why not? -D Feb 06 06 10:24 pm Link It's a wonderful quality in a model, or in a person in general. Unfortunately, some well meaning but misguided individuals often confuse it with "stupidity" or "recklessness", thus neccesitating long threads on inane topics such as escorts, perverts, etc. et al. Feb 06 06 10:41 pm Link Fearlessness comes in handy when the photographer makes the model lick sharp objects. Feb 06 06 11:06 pm Link I use the term frequently. My desire for it is returned infrequently. What I want, in such relation, is someone who trusts me to get the damn shot and isn't worried about her/his own lack of understanding of what the shot is. A fearless person will let things flow with the simple knowledge that holding back is death to the moment. Feb 07 06 12:30 am Link Fearless. Eat it bitches. Feb 07 06 12:37 am Link I find a healthy dose of trepidation goes a long way. Sanders. Feb 08 06 05:14 pm Link I think fearlessness in any person, regardless of what end of the business you are, is a plus. To a certain extent. This question finds me remembering a scene from one of the Next Top Model show. There was that crazy girl with the short hair. A shoot with the guys from Jackass. And at the end of the shoot she was running around wearing a diaper and actually peed into it. She looked ridiculous. And not well received. Anyway, I enjoy a fearless model, photographer, hair person, wardrobe, lighting, etc. I love when someone puts something where it was not intended to go. Or does something that was already done, but pushes it a bit more. Not caring if it sucks. But doing because they can. There is so much boring work out there. And it keeps getting re-done. And the fearless bird gets the worm. Because if it didn't, a bird that WAS fearless would. I hope you are reading this Brian. Shoot, I will edit to actually answer the original question. Yes, it is good for a model to be fearless. Be a fearless actress. Play the part you are given. Push your limits and test your boundries. It is easy to reel it back in, but hard to cast it out. LOL Feb 09 06 12:08 am Link You have to have it in huge quantity if you're going to be any kind of artist. There's nothing more frightening than a direction without a path, to get metaphorical for a second. Otherwise, just be an accountant, and have a nice safe trip. Feb 09 06 12:15 am Link Fearlessness is synonymous with confidence (but can be equated to stupidity depending on the nature of the situation). Feb 09 06 12:16 am Link studio36uk wrote: Thank you... Feb 09 06 12:18 am Link Who is the fearless one anyway? The model or the photog that risks the major lawsuit? It's much better to create the illusion of risk in camera than to do it for real. However. . .I do wonder. . .does fearless = soulless. In other words, does fearlessness equate to compromising oneself and one's sense of self?
