I am getting ready to start working on a fashion portfolio and need to find resources for the finer designer apparel that won't break the bank.  Anybody want to share their tips and tricks on how to get the good stuff?

Shopping off-season is helpful. Also look into consignment shops and thrift stores in wealthy areas.  Rich people throw away some great stuff.

Estate sells from rich old ladies. Those women have some many great vintage designer outfits they never wore!!! It's like Christmas. Plus, the families just want it out of there so you can get a rack of stuff for pennies!

But go consignment or thrift shops in rich areas. Stay away from Goodwill and Slavation Army. They tend to sell the good stuff out to consignments. Because they know they can make money off it.

the buffalo exchange- nationwide thrift retailer. found betsey johnson, carolina herrerra, kenneth cole etc there....they usually place them near upscale neighborhoods, so tht the richies will drop off their clothing there and we needy folk can buy it.
