Is Nude really the way to go?
I have shot nude photos and don't really seem to care to much about seeing a nipple. I think the models are beautiful with their goodies covered up. Well what do you think? Jan 28 06 01:00 am Link To each there own. But I do see a pair of female nipples in two of your shots. Jan 28 06 01:02 am Link > Is Nude really the way to go? That depends. Are you going to a nudist camp, or Republican party convention? Jan 28 06 01:04 am Link Yea your right Im not knocking nude photos just not sure how I feel about them personally Jan 28 06 01:07 am Link Bodyartist So, are you saying that there is a time and a place? Jan 28 06 01:10 am Link Ummm B(o)(o)bies Jan 28 06 01:42 am Link FotoGuyTX wrote: there's a time and a place for everything. If you looked at my profile, you'd not have had to ask that question Jan 28 06 01:54 am Link Nipples are fun. That is all. Thank you. Jan 28 06 02:02 am Link Artists grow and evolve each in their own way and time However you seem to be old enough and by now you should be deciding what it is you like as a viewer and as a creator of images You do have some nice pictures but for my own two cents you'll never be great or even very good unless you love what you're photographing (or writing, or acting, or composing, playing, etc) So at some point you should develop a love for this type of photography - and I don't mean that in the gigglish, locker-room "oooo boobies!!!" way, I mean that in the creating photos exploring the human body and all that that entails. There are photogs on here who LOVE shooting sports cars, they have great shots of sports cars, I'll never create great shots of sports cars because while I enjoy the occaisional shot of a good looking sports car overall I don't give a rats ass about sports cars so all the equipment and knowledge about shooting sports cars wouldn't do me much good. Now throw a naked chick in front of my camera and I'll come up with something pretty decent most likely All our advice here won't help you decide what your passion is, that's for your own inner artist to tell you. Jan 28 06 09:58 am Link I just put my first *nipples* shot up! I think they're great. Jan 28 06 10:00 am Link Nihilus wrote: i think that is one vote for the nude side of the aisle Jan 28 06 10:01 am Link so far the pictures i've taken and posted have kept the nipples covered, but there have been plenty where it's been mighty close. this has more to do with the wishes of my models (who so far have just been friends of mine and not exactly professionals) than my own standards. i would take pictures of fully nude models if the opportunity arose (who wouldn't?) but i also like the challenge of bringing out what's sexy while working around a little coverage. Jan 28 06 10:19 am Link FotoGuyTX wrote: Seems like nude comes up every day around here.... Jan 28 06 10:30 am Link Covered or uncovered is the last thing I'm concerned with when composing an image. If the flow of the body, extremities and/or drape make a pleasing combination of line and curve, light and shadow, then that's what will be seen in the finished image, I hope. An air of mystery can and does add to some images and the human form can certainly be beautiful without blatant exhibitionism but I generally leave it up to the model as a collaborative partner to reveal what she is comfortable with. Jan 28 06 10:36 am Link It is funny because there are not a lot of well known commercial photographers patronizing these sites. If the truth were known, many of the commercial photographers shun the glamour world. Most of the big money photographers in this business is make it on the commercial side (although there are plenty of people getting rich off of porn as well). So the question was whether nude was the way to go? The real question is way to go for what? Even the best fashion photographers in NYC have shot nudes. Heck, most of the fashion models there have a sheer or topless shot in their book. The question is whether you want to do glamour. Only you can answer that. Jan 28 06 10:42 am Link Shoot what works for you. Seriously. That's how talent and a particular eye and approach, and consequently a style and a portfolio that has a niche and sells is developed. This general principle would be true in most markets, in most genres, commercial or fine art. Jan 28 06 10:47 am Link Suzi wrote: I think yours are great too!! (Sorry--couldn't resist that! ;-) ) Jan 28 06 10:58 am Link FotoGuyTX wrote: Agreed. Maybe I'm old fashioned, but I like to have some mystery in my shots. When I shoot *almost* nude shots I like to have something right on the very edge of showing, that makes people look very closely at what you've done - it's an especially effective trick for advertising and catalogues (which are my bread & butter). Jan 28 06 11:09 am Link i like nude work. its very bold and, if done creatively, can making photos more interesting Jan 28 06 09:12 pm Link nudes can be good or bad. There are fine art and fashionable nudes which tent to show the beauty of the human body or there is glamour nudes which are basicly are more making the model look like a piece of meat in a meat market or a sex object. Yes this can be both male or females. I prefer the Fine art nudes, but I have done many glamour types too. Jan 28 06 09:25 pm Link Carlton Primm wrote: I applaud every last argument in this strand. I think the very same thing. Jan 28 06 09:28 pm Link which is why i'm not rushing into doing nudes yet. i know my limitations and i know that my art still needs a lot of work, so i might as well get that settled before i start asking my friends (much less "real" models) to take off the rest of their clothes for me. Jan 28 06 09:37 pm Link I perfer T&A shots to full frontal nudes. Frontal nudes need to be done right or they just look more like porn. Jan 28 06 09:51 pm Link FotoGuyTX wrote: uhm, i guess it just depends, but as a model, i've done semi-nudes (i dunno if i'm using the correct term but i haven't shown my pecker, is what I mean! heh heh) but anyhow, it has affected a few casting calls i've gone into... right now, I am about to do a TV Show, I am in the cast, but the producer still thinks that I am some sort of a "gay-porn-kid" (that was is exact words, mind you!) But honestly, I have no regrets doing those shots that I have done, bec to me, they are done artistically, and in good taste! Models just need to be careful of the route they're taking, because it is so easy to be branded in this industry, unless the porn/sexy/nude way is what you're after... no disrespect to the porn people but i personally dont wanna go that route Jan 28 06 10:20 pm Link Nudes will always be with us. Thank goodness. Photographers will always shoot them (and painters, like me, will always paint them), and bless them, models will always be there to pose in their birthday suits. Can't imagine Michealangelo and Bernini having this conversation: " Hey Mike, do you think these models look better with their goodies covered up?" Jan 28 06 10:31 pm Link Brewer35MM wrote: I agree 100% Jan 28 06 10:35 pm Link As most of us are adults and can/or have drawn our own conclusion as to what we like and dislike it's mute to even try to place a line in the sand on this issue. What it comes down to is as many others have suggested what is your preferrence. I agree there are good and bad nudes, just as there are erotic and pornographic, as well as art and trash...so what is it you want to do and do you want nude or not. Jan 28 06 10:54 pm Link |
