Hey Everyone,

I have recently talked to a friend of mine who is going to be photographing possibly with a photographer by the name of Brad Posey (www.Bradposey.com).  He is also an x-pornducer.. www.cub1821.com was the site.. I am sorta worried.. I know of many bad reports from my friends but do not know anything about him on his professionalism as a photographer.. does anyone know anything. Appreciate comments

Bad photographer does not a porn career make. Many photographers, even many on MM have shot or do shoot porn but do not tell anyone. If he is good at what he does and the shots will help your friends portfolio, who cares what he does as long as he treats her well.

EDIT: I just looked at his site. After flipping through it I think I know what kind of porn he produced.

Don't know the name. The link (porn) didn't work, it's broken.
His port looks like its all males, is he a gay photographer?
Is your "friend" a gay model?
His work as a photographer looks very good.
What was the question again?

I don't know what to say...

What does anybody care?

If he shoots her for her portfolio or some commercial stuff... and his style of photography rocks... where exactly is the problem if he is involved in porn too?

If your friend doesn't want to be involved with someone who is also shooting porn... she should shoot with someone who doesn't.

If you are concerned that she's starting to be actively involved in pornography... maybe it's in her... and your own limitations are projecting on her, but she'd do well...

It's complicated.

I don't shoot porn... I don't do nudes... but I shoot anything that pays me... if porn... hey... if they pay well, and I can use a pseudonym like "Mr. Longlense"... I'd do that too... LOL

Although I turned such an offer down... don't remember why...

Its a combination of the porn and his photography (my friend is a under 18 boy).  I know models that have worked with him (the porn thing) and he has tried to take advantage of the situation... but maybe its different for the photography.

Brad Posey: Yes he is gay. Yes he shot porn (and maybe still does). Yes, he shoots mostly men. So what?

Does any of that matter? No. What matters is if he is a good photographer, and can shoot the kind of photos that your friend wants. And is he a lecher. So look at his portfolio and see if the style and quality of photos he has fits with your friends needs. The fact that he shot porn is completely irrelevant to his talent as a photographer.

As far as wondering if he is or isn't a lecher, the fact that he used to shoot porn is of little help. I have known photographers who shoot porn and behave like perfect gentlemen in the studio. I have also heard of photographers who shoot completely mainstream photography who totally perv on their models. So ask for references, and then follow up and actually contact some of the references and ask what he behaves like during a photo shoot. If you are worried about his previous porn shoots, that seems like a legitimate reason to ask permission to bring an escort.

His past porno shoots raise an eyebrow, to be sure, but they are not necessarily any reason to disqualify him. He might be a total skeve, or he might be a perfectly good photographer. It is definitely worth checking his references, but really, models would save themselves a lot of trouble if they checked references on any photographer.

Edit: I didn't catch your last post as I wrote mine. If you friend is under 18, then he should absolutely bring his parent or guardian. If you know models who have worked with this photographer, and he has a bad rep, then that starts crossing a line, and I would tell your friend to find another photographer.

Thank you for the input.. this particular advice is most valuable and I will pass it on to my young friend.
