Photographer's Use of Someone Else's Images
What do you think about a photographer using someone else's photos on their MM page so that it appears they took them. There is a photographer in Nashville who has stolen some images off the web and is using them as his own. I know we can put anything on our pages and it doesnt say that he took them, but the idea really pisses me off. I have been a photographer for a long time and I used to own a stock agency and I am a little more picky about this than others. My reason for this post is, should I send the other photographer a message saying something or should I just let it go? Thanks for your input, Michael Jan 16 06 02:57 pm Link I came across somebodys profile with stolen images... I knew who the original photographer was who took the images and I notified him about it. Shortly after his profile was gone off the site. I guess he notified one of the mods and had him removed. Jan 16 06 03:04 pm Link Notify a mod and have them removed. This site isn't a place to just 'post images' its assumed if the image on your page is iether taken by you, has you in it or the makeup was done by you. If they use other peoples images that they have nothing involved at all in.. than they are falsly showing themelves and misleading anyone whom may contact them. In other words, they are up to no good. in my humble opinion. Jan 16 06 03:06 pm Link This never ceases to amaze me! I can't for the life of me fathom the reason to do that. I mean why...am I the only one who dosen't understand the reasoning behind it? If I like an image or idea...hey...I'll copy it to my concept file and one day shoot it myself and hopefully expand on the idea, but to blatantly swipe and image and call it your own (I guess it's my Catholic school upbringing)! Jan 16 06 05:49 pm Link they state the copyright is theirs? Jan 16 06 05:58 pm Link I ran into that, the mods dealt with it quickly. Always helps to have proof. Jan 16 06 06:00 pm Link Let me see if I can clear this up..... A person will post other pictures as their own ONLY for the following reasons: -they are starting out and have nothing of quality to show and want others to see them as talented and desireable. -they can take a good picture to save their life and want others to see them as talented and desireable. -they have a scam and want others to see them as talented and desireable. -they are here to bait women / models and want others to see them as talented and desireable. -they are dangerous preditors that might want to rape models and want others to see them as talented and desireable. *********** So....: TELL THE MODS!!!
