Just curious, since so many people seem to have mostly one or two types of picture in their portfolio, I was wondering what is MOST popular. State what you like the best. Personally, I would say it's between creative artistic shoots and couture. What about you?

What I like best and what I specialize in and show on my portfolio are different things.

I love pure art photography...crazy concept based photography that means something...has a message...and conveys that message via photography.

I show a portfolio that is mostly Commercial/editorial style because that's the kind of work I want.

I dont think I have found my style yet....I am getting close to some stuff I really like but I am not there yet. I am leaning towards the more edgy look....bright colors....high contrast.

I guess artistic though I'm dying to work with a model that can be artistic and not afraid of a little nudity....I'd be relieved if I could shoot and not worry about a nipple showing....

Everytime I think I like one style best, I find anther that I'd like to pursue.
I love classic glamour images... beautiful woman, beautiful setting, great lighting... so simple and always looks nice.  But I like very artistic, somewhat wild images too, just hard to find
places and people to do them.

Love black and whites, simple to technically difficult, love interior photography...  I guess I should just say, I love a good image no matter what style, or subject, just has to be a good
image.  You know it when you see it.

Someone said spontaneous and natural? Absolutely. If I'm not being paid to shoot, this is the most fun and creative way to work. (And sometimes, I try to steer a paid shoot more-or-less in this direction, or at least be "influenced" by it.) A subject (whether or not a model, whether or not even a human being, could be a building or a "moment"), a 35mm camera, the light that's available (which is very often the inspiration), and me.

Given my preferences, in these situations I'm usually going to be drawn in and inspired by either some aspect of style and stylishness, some conception or manifestation of romance and the romantic, and/or a mood or feeling of the moment in time.

I like to be naked. So any opportunity that presents itself, I'm game.

I also like black and white shots with one piece of clothing, prop, etc. being in color.

I'm really diggin' my beach sessions.  Even if it's with the same girl and the same beach, it's different.  the colors during a sunset never seem to be the same.  Clouds can be there or not be there. Sometimes the water seems to be be super glossy and just sits on top of the sand forever before soaking in.  And with the beach I do use, there are new piles of rocks each time I go.  Almost like it's a different beach.

I love creative and artistic imagery! I love intricate artistic concept pieces, but really creative "eye candy" is also fine with me. Furthermore, working from a detailed plan, or spontaneous artistic exploration are both equally valid approaches in my eyes. Columbus discovered America through exploration. America went to the moon as a result of meticulous planning.  Both were great achievements.

I also want to point out that "artistic or creative images" don't have to be odd or unusual. They can also be portraits, fashion, glamour, architecture, scenics, just about anything.

I started to list some of the things I like to photograph, or would like to photograph in the future, but the list got too long very quickly.  wink

Let's just say this:

If it's interesting and can be photographed, then I'm interested in photographing it!

(...and I have a wide range of interests.)   wink

take care,
Glen
