The model Veruschka/Vera Lehndorff and her collaborations with photographer Holger Trulzsch bring the level of modeling to art in my opinion.

She is still active in her 60's and living in Brooklyn.   Veruschka was a top fashion model in the 60's but it is her own contributions to the field and her body painting work that is so interesting.

Model image,  her collaborations with Holger Trulzch.

There are some models on MM that collaborate with the photographers which enhances the whole process and the final result.

Such as
Mayan lee #2422

Yaya #1670

Lindsey_25 #7282

Lapis  #3290
https://www.modelmayhem.com/pics.php?id=3290

Not a model on MM.

So add your own or comment on the aspect of models being part of the artistic process.  In a positive way please.

I am very familiar with Mayan and Lapis' work, but hadn't seen the other two MM models before.  They are exceptional!  Yaya knocked my socks off.  It is great to see a thread highlighting such creative and artistic work on both sides of the lens.  Excellent choices, and I like the vibe of the post.  smile

I knew I forgot a few.  I would add Shyly who works is great and many of the photos of her are works of art.

The last true "collaborator" model I had was my friend Stef

Stef 18+

She is a very 'in tune' person...able to tune in to the thoughts and wishes of those around her...almost to a scary extent...which made her an excellent collaborator because she could do what I wanted without me even having to do more than think it.  She also would just drop by on a whim and ask me to start shooting or call me up and ask what I was doing and if I'd like to shoot something.

Man I wish she still lived up here...she's down in Atlanta now... sad

This is really amazing, because I have been compiling a list of models I want to contact in terms of increasing collaboration. This list is too long to put here, but everybody mentioned would be on it...Tiana Hunter is my pet model/photographer. I don't know her personally, but have spent a lot of time looking at her portfolio on omp...18098

Yes,  Tiana is another one I would add to my list.

On MM she is #9675 as a model
https://www.modelmayhem.com/pics.php?id=9675

And as a photographer # 9679
https://www.modelmayhem.com/pics.php?id=9679

Also she is very elegant,  beautiful,  graceful,  and real in life.

And Lapis,  why not list them all?

Some great company to keep with... smile

Tiana is wonderful to work with and just a gosh darn nice person.

I know there are many models who would qualify for this thread, but don't think I ever really knew anyone's #'s .. will have to dig a bit.  Another place to find inventive, creative people is www.deviantart.com.  There are so many impressive young people out there...

Unless it's for a paid commercial shoot, I do not work on projects where I am unable to collaborate. I'm a creative concept person and love working as a photo stylist and prop/set designer. If you took that out of the equasion, I don't think I would find any pleasure in doing this. It's nice to see there are others. ;-)

From a models perspective, I love a photographer that I can trully callaborate with.  Obviously from my port, I have photographers that I love and alot of that is in the ability to throw out my own idea...and then they can take it and run with it and make it even better...then throw in the hair/makeup/wardrobe and it's at the next level.  I think my best example personally would be the Viva Van Story images in the Vesperi latex burlesque outfits.  I won't bore everyone with the details, but the coming together of the elements is what makes these images (I feel) some of my strongest.

Let's just say to this whole thread, "I agree."

Let me especially re-iterate... Verushka was possibly the greatest fashion model EVER. (Is that clear enough?) I'd kill to shoot her now in her 60s.

Raverchic - #40800 has been an amazing co-creator of many of the images we have taken.  And we manage to get about 2 shoots worth of ideas every time we work - Which in my case means that I'm now at least 14 shoots behind with just her - lol.

Pinups to Fantasy - I know I'm going to have fun and have a chance to try different things, with a model like her.

Megan Gallager #61165 was also a wonderful co-creator - she's smart and creative and made our images together way more than i could have hoped.

The keys for me, in both cases, is that commmuncations are ever present - and we both bring our "A game" ideas - and talk about them and sometimes make it all a step better.

These are smart and creative people - and have a ton to contribute.

I'm very proud to point to some of my shots and take only a partial credit - as a "Co-Creator" only.

As one who was inspired by and honored by the Goddess, Veruschka. I would not exist in the visual arts were it not for she.

As a model/photographer who shoots/models for art rather than commercial work (I fully understand my limitations and would never make it commercially), collaborative works are the lifeblood of my art. Thank you for sharing such wonderful model-artists.

I proud to say that I've always considered the models i work with to be collaborators in my images...I'm more surprised that we need a thread to say so.

I'm not surprised at all. I guess it depends on what folks shoot and if there is a third party client.

I have worked with models and collaborated with them.

I have had good results with both, but I prefer the creation process when it feels like there is a collaborative effort happening.

Just how an image is a two way street, so it is with a photographer working with a model.

My favourite models are muses.  Or is it the other way around?

I just recently moved and am now having to adjust  not just in terms of resetting things up, but finding a new base of models to work but more importantly, collaborate with.  Not as easy as it sounds!

You are right... It is not as easy as it sounds. I am photographer and model, and it's not easy to find photographers NOR models for collaborative, artistic type work.
