I am going to start doing some artistic maternity photography but before I approach expecting models asking them to do so, especially if they have never done so before, I would like to include a link to some excellent maternity photography to show as examples. I am not talking Ann Geddes though. That is too "greeting card/calender" style. I mean contrasty black and white, color, nude as well as mother with child shots, etc.

I have looked through google but not really found anything I would want to show as examples.

Wow, I love his stuff, almost what im looking for but different. This will do as a good example to show some ladies though I think. He seems to feel the same way I do. I feel a pregnant lady is pretty much the most beautiful lady on earth. And he is also not afraid to show them still looking sexy and sensual.I love the front page image of the lady with the dress clinging to her tummy smile

I was starting to think no one was going to reply lol

GB,

under no circumstances would I consider my photography excellent, in fact I'm just a beginner photographer and there's a lot I have yet to learn. The following pictures were taken about 2 years ago and though it was my only prenatal photography I've ever done (before or after) perhaps you might find something that will inspire you.

Dear Glam:

I'm glad that I was helpful.  Aeric is a great guy and a great photographer- we've been friends since our college days...way back when.

I appreciate how he keeps many of his shots natural (i.e. not touched up).  However, he has one of me in his portraiture port that I wish he would touch up...but he said, NO!

**************************
Mark,

Truly beautiful shots!

I despise pictures of pregnant women.  They make my stomach churn...why is someone getting knocked up so photo worthy?  I guess to each his own.  Some people hate my pictures too I'm sure.

I've been taking the pill since 16 for a reason thank you very much.  I did go to the ER when my friend had hers...but I still had no urge to take pictures of her stomach.

I had the very great fortune of shooting with 4 models who were all pregnant at the same time (within a coule of months) 2 of which I was able to shoot multiple times.  Try these http://www.ramblingcreations.com/photob … /index.htm

Thanx, I surely enjoyed being able to create those.  Most of my 'work' is like that with women that want to create or preserve a moment.

Um, doing a photograph of a pregnant lady is not a shot of her getting knocked up smile
And if the thought of pregnant women makes your stomach churn, may I ask why you clicked the link and took the time to reply ?

You think the pill will stop you all the time huh? I know someone who used the pill, the foam, an IUD and the guy used a condom and she still got preggers.

Thank you. I plan on it. Actually this girl.......

Informed me in a phone call about 2 weeks after we did this first ever shoot of hers that she is about a month pregnant. She will be one of the girls doing maternity shots for me. When she called to tell me the news she starts off with" Ray I think I have some bad news" and then I start thinkin her football player BF thought I shot pics that were too sexy of his girl and he was coming to get me,lol. The she told me she was pregnant and because of that she was afraid she couldnt model for me anymore. Im like heck girl, thats just what I have been looking for. Someone I know who trusts me, and is pregnant for some art maternity shots. She started giggling with glee at the fact that she didnt have to stop posing. She has such a blast at this shoot.

I don't know how to attach a photo in a forum, but I have one in my portfolio.  Wouldn't presume to say it was excellent, but please check it out.

I've been shooting pregnant women for the last 2 years, and love it!

I had many maternity images taken, in fact I was very busy modeling while I was pregnant.  The pic Mikey posted of me is one of my favorite shots. I feel some of my best work came when I was pregnant. I had a miserable pregnancy but somehow all the great images I help compose made it all feel better. To now look back at all the modeling I done while in a motherly way and seeing my son, puts a permanant smile on my face :-)  I only have the one image that Mikey took on my port here, but there are many more on my OMP site 16209 and on my husbands OMP photography port 30704 in case anyone wants to take a look see.          Yours in images.  Shayden
