Hi, my name is Heather and am new on MM.  I am currently setting up some TFPs in the area and am looking for any helpful tips that you have learned along the way.

Photographers: what do you expect, what do you like to see from your models, what makes a model stand out for you, what would you like your models to do that they dont, any info would help.

Models: what kind of research do you do before you shoot with a photographer, what do you look out for, what have you learned that you would pass on, what is the one thing you wish you knew coming into this business, anything will help

Makeup:  any helpful tips?

Hair: any helpful tips?

Thank-you, all of you for letting me pick your brains!

*Ask to speak with models who the photographer has worked with before or other references.  I have girls writing me all the time saying, "You worked with _______.  What was your experience like with him?  Were you comfortable? Would you work with him again?"  etc etc.  The photographer shouldn't have a problem supplying you with references...if he does - watch out smile

*This is just me but I always ask if it is ok to bring an escort, even if I don't really plan on it.  I always explain to the photographer that the escort will be completely non-intrusive on the shoot.  Usually the photographer doesn't have a problem with even the thought of me bringing one, but if he was adamantly against it- I may reconsider shooting with him.  As I said, even if I don't plan on bringing one I ask just to see how the photographer reacts.  Again, that is up to your discretion

Hi Heather-
When I do a shoot with a new model all I ask from the model is that she be committed, dependable and follow my direction.  I have a model interest sheet which I ask the model to fill out which defines the models limits in posing.  I also have a release form for the model to complete which covers compensation, in your case I would state on the form for you that I will provide you with a CD and a couple prints from the shoot of my choice of photographs.  I will never ask the model to do something that they are not comfortable doing.
I bring my wife with to all my shoots and she is a professional model who not only assists me but will assist the model also with poses.  I bring pose book (s) with to use on the shoot for the inexperienced model and also demonstrate for the model on how to do that pose.
Heather I would enjoy doing a shoot with you and might be able to network you with two or three other photographers here in the Phoenix area.
If you need anything or are interested in doing a shoot contact me at [email protected]
I do all type of photo sessions (absollutely no porn though).
Good Luck and looking forward to hearing from you and possibly working with you-
Regards
Jim
