I think the reason why there is alot of different perspectives of how business should be done is because of the type of photography or modeling they specialize in.

Some models and photographers do strictly glamour, some do strictly fashion, some do fetish, some do nudes, some do commercial.  So I just wanted to know, from both models and photographers, what do you specialize in?

That way, we know where the person is coming from and why they think the way they do.

I specialize in scotch.
And I have a minor in smoking.
I've spent a lot of time in the sack, but I've still got a long ways to go.

Alternative and goth type glamour, fashion, and nude.   Unfortunately I've only had one really good photographer that could shoot that stuff and get the type of feel i want.  But the pinup style, plain fashion, and lingerie, is definately not my thing.

Guess I would be classified as Modern Glamour with a hint of Fashion. I also do a lot of artistic work (ie:lightpainting).
However, im changing it up this summer. Keep an eye out for it.

I get a lot of requests for nudes (as a model) so some people must think that's my specialty. But I reserve the nude-taking for Hugh because even though my body still looks hot in other GWC's cameras...the photos don't! HA HA! Yeah, I am trying to discipline myself and stick to swimwear/lingerie/fashion.

As a photog, I will shoot models for sure, I have my own dreamy style that has a lot to do with color. I love color. I also like to do editorial-type stuff. Real people, real scenes from life. When taking a photo I want to see vivid color, dreaminess, and symbolism.

I specialize in selling out. I believe I have found a niche for myself, taking whatever picture I'm told to take by a client.

On a personal level, I like to specialize in taking macro pictures of open wounds. Any volunteers?

I like to say I specialize in not specializing. I don't want to get stuck having to do a certain type of photography.

Well then, what type of client work do you usually deal with?  Just answer the question, sheesh!

How does specializing in something make you stuck in only a certain type of photography?  Okay, here's a more simple question for you.  What do you like to shoot?

Speciality?

Well, I am somewhat of an expert on the Southern Oracle. It is my scientific spec-ial-ity.

(another movie reference many of you may not get)

Other than that, I'll tell you what I like to shoot and what I don't.

I like to shoot:

Fashion

Artsy Digital Composities that look real.

Erotica/Nudes

Edgy Portraits
I do not shoot:

Weddings

Actor Headshots

Live Concerts

Proms/Parties/Etc.

Inanimate Products
I've had the benefit of shooting for MANY years. So I have shot ALL of those things and learned what I enjoy and what I hate.

Hmmm...I can't get it straight either--wasn't she 13 1/2 then and 16 now?

Just goes to show, no one can stop her from becoming a woman!

It's (historically for me, anyway) the exciting world of engines, cars, heavy equipment, parts; "stuff," and sports with the occasional person thrown in.

I've more recently been shooting in the fitness industry (Bodybuilders, fitness and figure competitors, both male and female) for magazine and catalog work.

I shoot mostly glamour nudes in the studio, so I guess that's what I specialize in.  I also like to shoot dark artsy nudes using available light in unusual settings, but that's really just for my own enjoyment, unless a model decedes she wants that look for her portfolio.

I have also shot concerts, architecture and products for clients, and would like to do more if given the opportunity.

Outside of photography, I specialize in playing keyboards in an 80's band and being a complete wise-ass.  smile

Well this past month I specialize in breaking computers not all my fault though,  One of my macs was built wrong.(letters being written.  I have two down and two more hard drives down.  I am visiting today on a 603 chip.  Fun, fun, fun.  Waiting for my computers to be rebuilt.

I specialize in thinking outside the box.  If you want colors perfect and to match then maybe I am not the guy.  (I would hire a great assistant when I need to do so.)

But I can get at things both idea wise and technically better than many.  Wild stuff that I am not ready to put on the web.  More art than commercial or fashion.

Fashion and jewelry for the money.  Jewelry otherwise I am also not the guy for a normal still life shot.

========
I just gave my chow her summer cut this past weekend.  Anybody want to buy a bag a hair.

I am often jealous that dogs can lick themselves.  Well,  female dogs anyway.  Though I always tell my dog to stop,  I am such a hypocrite sometimes.

-----------------------------------------------------
PS I do not write nasty much but then I am glad, very glad that I do not have to write for a audience of five year olds here.

If you are then I do not believe you even belong on such a site.  period.

Or maybe such a site could set up a wild section for almost anything goes such as talk,  all out cage match battles on issues,  but no shaming people.

Again,  I do not talk that way much but many creative people do.  Would I want my Jewelry clients to see this writing--NO ,   I would not.  But then I do not show everything to everybody.

Oh,  yes and I specialize in the Blah, Blah, blah,  as many of you know already.

Art nudes, and artistic portraiture, branching out now and trying my hand more in a few sub-categories of fetish-alt, would love to get into more retro-pin up, and doing erotic nudes...mountains and clouds and trees are fun too

My speciality of the day is a delicious Chicken Marsala combined with a wonderful house salad lightly flavored with a sweet dressing (chef's secret recipe), and for dessert Creme Brulee topped with whipped creme and fresh berries - oh yes, and your choice of any sauvignon blanc (outstanding choice to compliment your dining experience) or a pinot noir (known for is "complexity" for those who enjoy a little something more than average....)
