It is a test.  THis is how most model testing is done, actually.  TFP is another realm of reality.

It's not necessarily a test...

I shoot on private commission often.

Context is everything.

It's plainly a photoshoot with a professional photographer who is doing his job of getting you a professional portfolio, or headshot, or resume shot.

The terms for freebies is so much more a phenomenon of internet modeling.

Okay, thanks.  I guess that wraps things up.  Oh, yeah!  So, should I include them as "Photoshoot w/ ..." when making a model resume?

It's pretty weird how many times I've been asked for a model resume from photographers.

portfolio shoots are often referred to as a "paid test" It's how most agencies refer to them.

Correct. There are "paid test" and there are "free test" agencies will send you to both.

If you're looking to do more than nudity and online photographer shoots, then keep a solid listing of your work for sure (aka, resume).  Whereas you don't pass it out with your comp in the same way that an actor does with his or her headshot, there are situations where you will be glad you have it available on request.  Remember that not all modeling is "sexy pictures," and there are other facets of the industry.  As for shoots you pay someone to do of you, that's not resume material.

I Agree.  Did you pay some of the costs?  often on a test a model pays but often not all of the costs so no or not much profit for the photographer.  If you paid for the makeup artist and prints only then you did not really "pay the photographer".

If so then just a test.

If the subject or model commissions the shoot,  with or without buyout rights of the use of the photos, then it could be called something else.  What I am not sure?  Depends.

Give us more information.

PS If a photographer asked you for a resume then I would be frightened.

STOP THE RESUME madnesss.  Please,  Please,  Please,  it is illogical.
