A model friend of mine emailed me asking if this company sounds legit. They are called Worldwide. You pay $289.00 security deposit which they claim you will earn back plus 10% minimum. Sounds sketchy to me.

Feedback?

Thanks,

Rick

Doug, hey, I'm glad that you commented on that; I didn't know either way.

Most agencies with advance fees are scam.  Normal agency will cover the fees and be paid by deducting from models' pay these fees.

So...only about 341 more of these threads to go before we happen upon (statistically) the one that isn't?

I realize the country, in this age, is built with a lack of critical thought from its general populous...but...

...when asking if it looks like a scam, feels like a scam and/or smells like a scam -
it usually IS a scam.

Critical thought?  Yeah, lots of that going around.  It works like this:

"Does this thing say it offers me something I really, really want?  It does?  Then never mind all that other stuff, it's for real!"

The golden rule is if you're asking if it is a scam then it is a scam.

If not you wouldn't be asking, let your feelings go Luke.  Just kidding refer to the golden rule.

I once ran across a magazine concept where the photog pays a small fee to submit a photo etc. and it all sounded crazy to me.  Anyway I looked at it it felt like a scam, smelled like a scam I didn't bite.  But thousands (not kidding) of photographers did and then ended up suing the magazine for fraud.  It was in the photo district news a long time ago.

So if you're asking.......
